My buddy was heading the dump with a dead Karcher power washer. I told him that I'd save him the trip and take it off his hands. It has a Honda 5.5hp that runs perfectly. The pump was leaking water terribly.

I pulled the pump to inspect, but didn't see anything obvious on the pump side. However, the drive oil was mixed with water. That chocolate milk is scary and expensive inside a car engine! Saw that before and I was forced to drop another engine in my '66 Mustang.

I bought a complete pump rebuild kit and replaced every soft part and valve. I have the oil-water thing worked out. Still fighting the leaking pump issue though. If I can't square it up tomorrow, I'm ordering a new pump. I'll still be significantly under the cost of a new power washer, so I'm happy.

Some of the pumps have a high temp melt plug. If someone leaves the pump running deadhead and the water gets hot, it will melt the safety plug.

Where did you find the rebuild kits for the Karcher?

There are a bunch of places online. I usually use ereplacementparts.com, however it isn't always the cheapest.

Thanks. I'll take a look, but the leak appears to be coming from the pump head. I'm sorry of baked since everything was replaced...
