Times arise when we need someone to "stand in the gap" on a personal level. I have that need if you will spare a minute. I have a very bad left hip and have been scheduled for a THR for tomorrow 01/11/22. It is at a point that movement is almost intolerable without pain meds. The Dr. has taken me off meds in preparation for surgery so I have spent several days without sleep other than the occasional catnap, but it's ok with the prospect of relief being imminent.
All this to say that the Dr. called this morning to tell me that the hospital is flooded with covid cases. Currently 90 admissions and over 100 staff infections. The hospital is wanting to cancel all elective surgeries and he is fighting that my surgery not be canceled. Please pray that he is successful.
Prayers for a quick recovery also much appreciated by me and I am sure my wife as she is primary caregiver during recovery for me and all of the critters.:)

Prayers up

Prayers up.
When someone is such extreme pain, surgery cannot be considered elective.
My brother had one hip done last summer. Next scheduled for this summer. Seems he has the same condition I have. Though because I was not athletic in school, I'm not paying as a big a price now. A predisposition for degenerative osteoarthritis after even minor injuries. That why I swim rather than do impact exercises.

I can see cancelling a face lift or a boob job but if you are in constant pain that makes this needed surgery not elective. Prayers they will see it that way too and for a speedy recovery.

I am good however it goes, this was in my devotional this morning.
"Peace in the Christian life doesn’t begin with serenity or good feelings, it begins with our relationship with God and being made right in Christ. Only in a right relationship with God can we know the peace that comes from the indwelling Spirit. From there comes the peace in difficult circumstances as the Spirit ministers to our hearts and gives us the assurance that Christ, who has promised never to leave us, is with us."

Thanks to all for prayers, just heard from Dr. he is holding the line and they have me set for 7:30am check in if nothing changes. I do agree, some elective surgeries are not elective.

Praying for the best, personally I would not rush to have a surgery in a poorly staffed hospital. If things go sideways, there will not be many / if Any extra hands when needed.

Praying for a positive outcome for you, and don't hesitate to reach out for worldly help here if you two need it.

Prayers lifted for you to get your surgery and a speedy recovery!!!!!

@Axehandle -- praying for you and your wife this morning.

Praying for good things for you and your family.
You will feel like a new man in no time at all.

Prayers that all goes well and you get this surgery behind you so you can have relief.

I know exactly what you're going through as I went through the same situation in 2012 with a total knee replacement. Had been off all pain meds for over a week and a glitch came up in the surgery center in the hospital. I was certainly not looking forward to having a rescheduling done because of the intense swelling and torturing pain from that knee/leg. I could not even put on pants due to the condition.

Awesome doctor in Pinehurst came through for me and pressed on to have mine done that day. I'll never forget that man and what he did to help me out during that awful period in my life. I won't go into the details here but that situation had slowly turned into one of the worst experiences in my life until that doctor intervened and held his ground.

Life is so very good when you are surrounded by the right people in your life. Don't ever forget that my friends.

I hope your recovery is speedy and pain free. Like stated above, keep us posted.

God is good all the time!
Sorry I have been lax in updating this post. I am very appreciative of all the prayers lifted on my behalf. The surgery went well and on schedule, I did have to spend one night at the hospital and have to say that the staff at Moore Regional are outstanding.
Recovery is going well and I am moving around with the aid of a cane and anticipate a complete recovery with no complications. I place my body in the hands of the Great Physician knowing that I am His and He is mine.
The responses I see in these threads show over and over that this forum is much more than just another forum. We are family and I am grateful to be a part of it.

Axehandle, I'm new to the forums and saw your request for prayer while checking things out. Two things...1) I wanted to let you know that when we gather around the table tonight, we will be praying for you brother. 2) I am 4 months post-op from my own total left hip replacement and have been completely pain free for weeks, so you have a lot to look forward to. I have some pain in the other hip though and am getting Cort-shots to get me by in the meantime. I had covid right before my first surgery and know how it feels to be "in limbo". For what it is worth its one of the best joint surgeries out there and you will be amazed at the difference, once you finally get in. Its tough at first, so be patient with yourself, but my recovery was way faster than I could have ever hoped for (anterior approach). Hang in there brother....
