My dad passed away last Saturday morning unexpectedly. My brother found him on his bathroom floor. He was getting ready to leave for breakfast. He was a giant of a man who rode horses, camped out in the mountains, drove a big truck and lived life on his terms. He died on his terms also. He didn’t want to be a burden or be in a hospital. His funeral is next Tuesday due to our pastor being out of town so this makes this a very long week. My dad wasn’t just our dad, he was our best friend and deeply ingrained into our lives. My brother has been to his house just about every morning for coffee for the last 30 years! My brother, sister and I will miss him so very bad! Thanks.

I'll be thinking of ya'll. I lost my dad/best friend in Sept. I still find myself about to call him, it sucks. Like your father, he had a good and full life, much of it with me. Honor him with your thoughts and deeds.

The passing of a good father. I can think of nothing harder.
Chuck, I am so sad for you all who he leaves behind, but happy he left like he lived.

Godspeed to your Dad.

The first thing I did after I left his house on Saturday was start to call him. I talked to him 10-15 times a day. We went to breakfast, went to lunch, went to our cabin, and just screwed around in general. He was almost 81 and lived alone, cleaned his house, drove anywhere he wanted to go and worked driving a dump truck right up until 6 months ago. I find myself talking to him all this week, wanting to call him and stop by the house expecting him to be sitting there. He was a hell of a man and role model!

His mark on your lives certainly appears to be a lasting and impressive one that I pray will provide comfort, great memories, and many opportunities to share stories with others about his life.

Honor his life by taking advantage of these opportunities.

Prayers Hammer21b. Sounds like y’all had a heck of a good relationship with a lot of quality time. Be thankful
For the time you had. Surely, you will see him again one day.

I'm sorry about your loss. It sounds like he was a great man.

Sorry to hear this, @Hammer21b
Lost my dad in ‘12. I feel your pain. My Dad’s friends used to say “he was runnin’ for mayor everywhere he went”.

I’m rejoicing for your dad, because he is with the King....
I’m heartbroken for your family for the pain you are feeling.

Prayers sent, brother.

Prayers for you and your family! Things will get better eventually. I'm glad you and your brother had such a great dad. Y'all are very lucky to have had him as long as you did.
