They opted for a transfusion to play it safe instead of just sending her home with iron supplements. Just started the transfusion and will be running for 4 hours.

No. They don't believe it is anything serious. Just believe it could be a combination of diet and too much milk.

After two transfusions and an iron supplement, we're hoping to be discharged today. It's been incredibly tough for her, since they have to draw blood and since she's anemic, trying to find a vein to draw from has resulted is many painful attempts.

Blood iron levels were good last night and hoping for even higher numbers this morning.

When my wife was in her MLT internship and then working at the VA in Boston, she became the preferred "Dracula" for the hard to find veins. The butterfly was her preferred implement.

In the process of being discharged. Everything points to milk suppressing iron intake.

Just going to have to take iron drops twice a day for a few months.

Glad to be back at home and even more thankful that my daughter has some time away from needles for a while.
