Pre-ban

Alright take it easy on me here guys, I am curious as to why “pre-ban” guns seem to warrant a higher price? I’ve never owned one obviously, how ever I guess to the “not in the know”, why more expensive if there not banned now? Again please pardon the ignorance. Hope everyone has a good evening! In the past you could sell a pre-ban gun to residents of states like Massachusetts where state law caused the AWB to never sunset. I think all of those states have prevented that now though.
The only other reason would be for guns that can no longer be imported or are no longer sold. For example a Hungarian SA-85 AK, they were sold preban with bayonet lugs and real stocks and post ban with thumbhole stocks and no bayo lug. By the time the AWB expired they weren’t being imported anymore, so a preban one is much more desirable.
