Ladies and Gentlemen,

This year's Patriots' Day Appleseed Weekend is April 21st and 22nd, 2018. This is the weekend held simultaneously at ranges nationwide as a special Commemoration to the men who, on April 19th, 1775 "By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard round the world."

This year in NC, we are holding Patriots' Day events at Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club and at the Appleseed Home Range in Ramseur (near Asheboro). Here you will receive the same quality Rifle Marksmanship training that Appleseed is known for, you will hear the same stories of April 19th, 1775 and the price paid to show this to be a country of Free Men.

What's special about Patriots' Day Weekend is that at the same time, across the country, all Shooters will fire a Memorial Volley for all Americans killed on that day. Each fallen Patriot's name is read, the traditional volley commands given, and a volley is fired for each. It's a truly moving experience, and one that drives home the price that was paid for Liberty.

So please join us here in the Old North State in a couple weeks, in Ramseur or Charlotte!

If you are unable to attend in NC, or have distant family or friends who may be interested, please register for Patriots' Day Weekend in another State in our Beloved Republic:

Great program, good people, shooting fundamentals at a price that can't be beat. The history alone is worth the price! You need to go and take a friend with you that is interested in learning about marksmanship. Sponsor a new shooter and take them to an Appleseed!

Right now, North Carolina is in the top 5 in the country in pre-registrations for Patriots' Day Weekend. FL and OH are at the top, and MI and NY are in the hunt as well.

Everyone is close enough that any State can end up on top......so every shooter counts.

Highly recommend this if you've never been to one. Very good training, time to practice it, some historical interludes during breaks, and it's cheap for a weekend of shooting fun, particularly if you shoot 22. You _will_ learn something even if you think you know it all. Just do it!

If you have been to one, I don't need to recommend it :)

I'll be there in ramsuer. Been looking forward to it for a few months now. Looking for that rifleman patch.....maybe even the distinguished rocker if the stars align.

Update from today:
My hallway dry fire really paid off today. Took the cz 452 with tech sights out today and struggled with consistent cheek weld to begin with, only had all of my shots in the first 3 redcoats (1,2, and 300 yards plus missed the shingle by about 3/4 of an inch. One of the instructors noted that my head was coming to the gun instead of the gun coming to me. After that adjustment it was lights out. My first two aqt scores were in the mid 220s, each with one shot not taken in stage 3. I decided to pick up the pace for the next aqt and shot a 237. I knew before I went down range that it would be a great target, but had called one pulled shot that barely squeaked into the 3 ring. Was also able to clean the redcoat target at the end of the day. All of the instructors were very friendly and worked together very well, giving a great history lesson along with good shooting instruction. I slapped a cheap 4x scope on the trainer this evening and have a new goal for tomorrow:. 245! If you haven't been to one of these events yet, it is a must do! A humbling experience that will teach you a lot about shooting as well as the events that led to the founding of our blessed republic.

Awesome!

Final update from my patriots day weekend appleseed event: last night I slapped a cheap 4x scope on the cz and used a street light down the road to bore sight it. Got to the range today and the first target was the red coat target. I fired and immediately noticed I was an inch low and an inch left. Finished the redcoat target clean using a little Kentucky windage instead of making the adjustment then. After a few sighter squares and the correct adjustments, I was right where I wanted to be. My first aqt I got a bit of a surprise on the standing portion when I realized the guy next to me had switched to an ar with a tanker style break on it. After the first few shots, I just started firing between his cadence and that worked for most of the day. First aqt with scope was a 235. I shot 5 or 6 more aqt targets after that, all above 240 with my highest being a 248. I really wanted that 250 rocker, but two days of getting into positions that fat guys like me don't belong in had taken its toll, and I was losing the ability to focus hard on the reticle by my last target, finished the day at 242. I can't say enough about the crew who worked this weekend. It was my first appleseed, but will not be my last by any means. I openly challenge anyone who thinks they know how to shoot to give this a go. If you shoot a 250 at an appleseed here in the Carolinas, post it up with proof and I'll mail you a brick of .22lr.

Smokin!

Congrats on a great job, with any rifle, but especially with a bolt action. Well done!

Congrats, man! Great shooting!

We had 11 shooters in Charlotte for Patriots Day Weekend and had 4 Riflemen. Two were brothers who both shot Distinguished- the first shot a 246 with a scope, then switched to an old bolt action with Irons (and no sling, since it wasn’t drilled for sling mounts) and managed a 230 by the end of the day on it. His brother had a high score of 242 with a scope.

We would love to have you back on the line to pick up those two points for that perfect 250. Drag some family or friends along as well.

Again, great shooting! And I hope the History portion gave you some things to think about as well.
