Slow sales, Amazon, and the death of malls will account for many well known stores to close many of their stores if not all. They include auch names as Walgreens, Jos Banks, Men’s Warehouse, Macy, Forever 21, Office Depot, JC Penney, AC Moore’s, and Victoria Secrets. One article states Victoria Secrets issue is they are not inclusive enough by not having transgenders in their annual Christmas show. I find that to be total Bull shyte. Women don’t care if a guy with his pee pee taped to his bunghole is in a fashion show and men would never watch again. Journalist with an agenda make me puke.

We are in for some serious hard times when lockdowns destroy the food industry as well. I have not had but one restaurant service call in over six months. They are flat broke and repairing nothing.

My wife and I watched a new restaurant get built in N. High Point. It was built by the owner of Steak Street. It opened a year or so ago at the Palladium.

It was called Coast. We ate there several times and the food was very good.

The first COVID lockdown killed it. They announced they are not reopening.

”Librul Lockdown Round 2” coming soon. Now is the time to stick up with six months worth, at least, of key items.

I think AC Moore has already shut down, I know they shut down several hundred stores back in the spring, Feb/March

Like stated, online ordering will kill many brick and mortar. Not all, but many. We need to do our part to keep our local stores open, like gun stores etc, but there are many times where I can save 30% and have it tomorrow by going Amazon vs dealing with traffic and people

Those people will have to adjust, many will need to work distribution centers etc for their previous competition

Yesterday I wanted some “sill seal” the plastic insulation you put between a sill plate and concrete to keep moisture from wicking up into the wood for a chicken coop I’m building. Local Lowe’s didn’t have it in stock, would have to order it and maybe get it in 3-7 days. Went home, $13 on Amazon, will be here by Wednesday.

My daughters worked while in college at Victoria Secrets part time. That place was packed in the fall and Christmas season. Didn’t do very much after Christmas. They had a lot of theft. Women steal lots of bras and panties. How you gonna stop someone with six thongs on under their clothes knowing they got a item count number from an employee to go to the dressing room. Mall security never did a thing when called.

Whole commercial real estate system is in trouble here...businesses gone, $/sf drops, bank note defaults, lost “revenues” to the .gov, strip malls and buildings in disrepair, etc., etc. Unfortunately, I think it’s much more than just these companies shutting their doors! Lots of downstream consequence...

I think those lost taxes to local govs are going to hurt these bloated bureaucracies! Some of that might not be all bad!

wifey runs a distribution warehouse and has clients beating down the doors. unfortunately landowners are trying to increase rent to stay afloat. with the increase in business, it might not be a problem

interestingly, she was just griping at me for the 20lbs of rice i packed away when this whole thing started. i haven't even touched it she says... sorry, but she's suddenly switched to jasmine rice and doesn't want to touch white rice anymore. but if she gets hungry enough...

Yeah, commercial real estate is hurting in some areas for sure. A friend/ex boss that still works with us, got real big into commercial real estate. He's down well over six figures since the wuhan flu hit. Lucky for him, it's just a blip on his radar, but sooner or later, he'll have to make a decision.

Same here, I needed oscillating tool blades. Got to order from Lowe’s, takes 5 days, Amazon order will be here tomorrow.

Corporate offices will be shrinking too - between zoom and Microsoft teams, the need for offices and conference rooms is a thing of the past.

Same thing today with some appliance parts I needed for our microwave (yea we still FIX stuff around here). Got to order them from the factory, maybe 5 days. I do my best to keep business local, even more so now that in the past. My amazon purchases have dropped tremendously and I do my best to NOT do business with them but they can get me OEM parts in 2 days. When fat boy has Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sammiches in the freezer, a down microwave ain't good to anybody.

I've said for months, when these anti-eviction laws go away both commercial and residential real-estate will be in a bad spot. My prediction, big money players make big moves buying up what they can. This has already happened in some city's that the rioters/terrorists have destroyed. The longer this goes on the more it looks like an entry into a playbook.

My pops restaurant were closed for 3 months

Tried to applied for the PPP Loan and got $14.32. $14.32 for everyone.

Pop was so pissed that he didn't even cash it out.
While Lakers(Basketball team) got like 2 million in PPP Loans.

We opened up in July and cut most of our menu. Just focusing on the major things people like and just trying to keep everything afloat.

If we can survive this year and the coming next. We should be fine

Several local restaurants have closed. Rural area, no big chains so they’re all mom and pop type. My wife stopped in one a couple of weeks ago and was helped by the proprietor who said the local community has really stepped up and supported her via take out and now in person such that she’s doing OK.

Our little diner up the road Nannie Annie's is bustin at the seams. Full every day.
I'm guessing 250 meals a day. The restaurant business is savage. They are open from 6 am til 2 pm with 3 Blue plates a day and a big menu [too big]. Crazy portions and reasonable prices. Just celebrated their 3rd year.

What alot of people miss is the ability to sell on Amazon. IF a manufacture small or big, uses all the e-com platforms correctly based on safety stock you can do very well. I know of a few here in NC where Amazon sales is more D2C then their own web orders.

IF you are a small company and you have inventory, invest is a real time inventory system and sell on the e-com platforms or you will be like SEARS soon. This converts you local store in to a national store with a click of a button.

It’s gotta be the toast.

Where is his restaurant at? I’ll be glad to patronize it.

when amazon figures out how to deliver your food by drone, it will all be over

I’m not sure how anyone successfully sells on amazon. When my previous company looked into doing it the fees, penalties and terms made it nearly impossible to make money.
Amazon was taken care of every step of the way though.

Not sure. I do have a buddy who operates a brick and mortar store here in Charlotte, but keeps a lot of stock at a Amazon warehouse. He sells about $225,000.00 a month just through them. He gets notifications when they are low on certain products, he pulls from his inventory, and sends it to them, and here we go again. What he makes out of that, I'm not sure, but out of a couple hundred grand a month, I'm sure he's not starving, lol.

I hope he’s doing well. Someone along the way is making money but in our situation it wasn’t going to be us.

All of what you talk about is based on not delivering to the market place. If you follow the establishment rules you can do well.

That may be, it’s been a few years since I’ve read their terms/conditions. I just remember that everything we would have to do in order to sell on amazon made it not profitable for us to do so.

Understand fully. Some of the margins look to me to be more for manufactures / distributors then retailers.

Let us know what restaurant and maybe some of us can come grab some food. That’s kind of how this site rolls. Good people.

Yep, for sure. We use to go to Hawthorne's Pizza and bar pretty often here in Harrisburg. When they went carry out only, @KellySue and I, and her parents bought from them sometimes twice a week to help them out. At work, we still get carry out breakfast and lunch from quiet a few places around our shop. Little things like that magnified can really help these businesses out. Throw out a name/link, and lets see if we can help.

Would not want them back on the sales floor.
