Which way is the proper way to reload an MP-5? 1. Drop empty mag, lock bolt open, insert new mag, close bolt or 2. Lock bolt open, drop empty mag, insert new mag, close bolt.

When I was competing with mine I tried to time mag changes between strings so that I would not run empty. So I would drop the mag and insert a new one and keep shooting.

If the bolt needed cycling it was done after the mag change.

1. Bolt should lock open after last round. Drop mag, insert mag, slap handle forward.
If bolt didnt lock back, do 2.

Depends on which MP-5, but many do not have a bolt hold open. I don’t know when it was added.

I wasn't aware any of them had LRBHO... Certainly none of the civilian versions currently do that I'm aware. I think both Zenith and PSA are/were trying to solve that riddle with their variants, but no idea where they are at with it.

The MP5-10mm made for the FBI has LRBHB, but I’m unaware of any fully transferable ones.

I don't own one, but I would think the proper sequence would be,

Drop mag
Insert mag
Cycle bolt

Same sequence, bolt open or closed, mag full or partial. Optionally, not cycling the bolt if you absolutely know the chamber is closed on a round.
