Following the guilty verdict, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter had jurors return to court this week to make another decision: whether the club’s insignia is linked closely enough to the crimes to warrant forcing the Mongols to forfeit the group’s trademarks to the U.S. government.
The Feds are try to take the trademarks ... plural so it’s not just the logo it would likely include the name “Mongols” also ... that sure does seem like overreach. If they didn’t like a business or company’s size, actions, ownership, etc this could set a precedent for that ... like back when they broke up Ma Bell because it was to close to a monopoly and they could have taken their logo, “Bell” name, etc.

a trademark is as good as the Federal enforcement of it.

At the Fed meeting, "So these people have been dealing in drugs murder theft and white slavery for decades. I've got an idea, lets go after them for copyright infringement".

That makes it sound like the Feds had been investigating themselves.

I see what youre saying, but it could be like the Al Capone scenario - they knew he was doing all these things for years, but couldnt get hard evidence on him. So they went after what they could - taxes.

The Feds once spent $13 Million dollars to try 6 HA members. All found Not Guilty. Sonny Barger's famous quote "Hell if they'd given me the $13 million I'da givem somebody to put in jail".
