Technically this is not my first AK but I'm going to call it my first because I only owned the last one for less than a month and decided it was not for me.

I bought one of those Furniture ready kit's for $850 and the Furniture for another $225. It saved me around $50 over a full gun and I was able to upgrade to an alg trigger from whatever mess PSA includes on a normal 103.

I'm a dumb AR guy and this is legitimately an Ak assembly wise. Nothing just goes on easy. The upper handguard was tight but went right on no problem. Lower handguard took a good amount of sanding where it slides into the front trunion. The 4.5mm pin for the stock gave me some real troubles. Ended up needing to sand it down spinning the pin in a drill holding sandpaper. Annoying but oh well. The pistol grip hole didn't line up on one side to another. It looked like they drilled halfway through, then flipped the grip and went the other way. About a week of going back and forth with cs via email a new grip was mailed and showed up 3 days later. PSA did not ask for the old grip back so now I have an extra, simple fix I just really wanted to see how PSA CS is. The wood on both grips and hanguards are flawless. The stock seems to be more what I'd consider surplus quality. Covered in oil, scratched up and not quite pristine. Took me about 40 minutes just to get the furniture on before I struggled with the trigger (I'm a dumb AR guy). The button to fold the stock is very tight and originally I needed to hit it with a hammer to depress the button. It's now starting to get better and I can depress it with a magazine or my thumbs sometimes.

I've only shot about 100 rounds through it so far but plan to really burn through some ammo in the next few months. It would not run out of the box, bolt was very sluggish and would not eject rounds. After throwing a mess ton of lube on it at the range it started purring like a kitten.

5 Romanian mags lock in no problem with a little side to side rattle. 1 bakelite mag rocks in with absolutely no side to side rattle and is actually wearing down the side of the bakelite slightly on the opening in the receiver.

Very low round count so far, I'll update the post once I get some more rounds in and if anyone has any specific request for pictures of parts let me know. I'm still happy with my purchase, with KUSAs notable recent issues and Bulgarian side folders being what they are this PSA is a solid product for the money. Time will tell how long it holds up. I will say recoil is only slightly more than the saiga 5.45 I had and considerably less than wasr AKs. It seems a to be a great option if you just really want a side folder.

Looks great, @Squanchy. Glad you're hanging in there on your AK journey, despite more than a few head scratchers and aches.

Those half moon-style muzzle brakes are fantastic. They do tend to collect carbon over time more so than a basic slant brake, so it's a decent habit to unscrew and clean the device and your muzzle threads every now and then.

I appreciate the advice! I'll take note of that, I have mostly wolf hollow points so not the best / not the worst ammo quality wise.

Not sure how often I should be cleaning this thing. I tend not to clean guns that often unless I see some severe carbon buildup or I'm just really bored.

It's probably not a bad idea to do a light cleaning after every hundred or so rounds for the first thousand rounds, just to be able to inspect for any unusual wear patterns that some PSA guns have developed.

On the flip side I have a WASR I haven't cleaned since 2015 or something, and it still gets shot all the time and hasn't skipped a single beat. AKs don't need much TLC.

Keep a spent piece of brass around ( actual brass "brass", doesnt matter what caliber) , its the perfect tool for getting the carbon off the crown after taking the brake off.

Another 210 rounds on Friday, was able to get consistent hits at 300 yards. 400 is kind of spotty but could be my awful shooting abilities and only having a red dot. Gun was still accurate with a hot to the touch barrel.
