More cool news out of SHOT Show yesterday. I know PSA isn't without its problems, but if they can get all these kinks figured out they will fill a huge void for the AK community.

Here's their new PSAK-74:

Not sure why they went with a 45-degree gas block, and I hope they release a triangle folder at some point. Also, it may be a pipe dream but I hope these do very well and somehow get us more 5.45x39 ammo options.

I would >really< like to see some US manufacturer come out with a quality AK for the 500 range. I bought an old beater WASR a few years ago that has never had a problem. Its ugly, but reliable. Like AKs should be. But these new ones from US manufacturers look really cool to me, but I keep hearing about problems with them.

Since I've been a member here and for a lot longer than that, I've urged folks not to buy American AKs, Palmetto included. But like @B00ger says, I also really want an American company to succeed at it. It definitely appears that PSA has a far better shot at it than anyone else. And SHOT isn't even over! Who knows what else they'll drop on us this week.

One less part to manufacture is my guess.

I just saw this on social media - one of the guys reporting from SHOT says the PSA rep confirmed it'll have a 90-degree block by the time it comes to market. The one on display is a prototype.

I like the 5.45 round. Maybe an USA made one will bring some ammo manufacturers to produce enough to compete with 7.62x39 and start being available like Wally World and local gun stores.

I’m all for more AKs. I’m glad PSA is making an honest attempt at making a decent one.

They better put the right gas block on there before they start selling these though!
