I have a standard BCG from them that came with my .300 upper and just received one of their “premium” BCGs that I ordered for a build I’m working in. After getting it in and comparing the two, I really don’t see the difference. The specs appear to be the same from their site and I actually think the staking on the keys may be a little better on the non-premium BCG. So what is the benefit to buying their premium over a basic?

Here is a pic of the staking. The far left is my Daniel Defense, the middle is the standard and far right is their “premium”.

Maybe it's just the finish?

The far right looks a bit more smooth to me, but that's all I really get out of the pic.

The finish is a little bit smoother on the premium, so maybe that’s it. They both appear to be Chrome lined.

Premium BCGs are High pressure tested as well as magnetic particle tested..others are just mpi

Edit:

Found this out of stock freedom.BCG that said the freedom line is MPI and HPT

Also, I think their premium bolt and bolt carriers are made of a better/stronger steel.

The only difference is the testing IRC. All milspec bolts are made out of Carpenter 158 or 9310, as that is the spec.

But the finish on the nitride and NiB bolts are slicker and more durable IMO

I bought on of their nickel BCGs a while back an was very impressed by it.

Then again, I am impressed by most things...

I noticed that when I was comparing the 2. Far as I can tell the finish might be slightly better and that’s about it.

That’s what I’ve read and understood too. Just from observing your pic. I can see machining “chatter” on the rails in the middle carrier. But not on either of the others. So there would seem to be another plus/addition to the premium. More attention to detail during machine finishing.
