I have a spikes tactical calico jack lower that I want to build out for my first AR build.
I'm looking at something more premium than the entry level PSA kits but not high end either.
Any thoughts/opinions on the CHF kits from PSA?
They are on sale now for $629, seems like a decent price.

Thanks

The chf barrels will supposedly last longer but your talking tens of thousands of rounds.

Nab one of the ones in the $300-400 range with a rail that you like and don't look back. Put the savings towards a good optic.

Or spend your proposed budget on a higher quality brand. In the $600ish price range I would probably be buying an aero precision upper.

I agree for $600 I'd be grabbing an aero as well. The 3-400 psas are good entry level guns to learn on. Spending $400 on an upper and $200 on training will go further than just having a chf barreled upper.

The PSA premium stuff is actually pretty solid. They're using FN barrels which are fantastic.

I agree that $600 is a little stout for them though. You can often times catch them on sale for 300-400 and that makes them a solid value.

Bang for the buck, right now, I'd grab this and just add a nickel boron BCG and a charging handle of your choice. The entire upper costs just over what you'd pay for the barrel.

Aside from that, most of the upcharge in the PSA CHF build kits are some sort of trigger upgrade and a barrel that comes from FN.
That's an awesome price. I'm running a 14.5" that 2" of rail and barrel is noticable working indoors.

Op you just missed aeros upper sale. They were 20% off plus an extra 10% off.

Either going with an Aero build kit, or the PSA FN-barreled CHF series are both very solid options in that $600 price point.

I'm kind of thinking about getting one of those PSA FN-CHF 20" carry handle kits to put on a spare lower one day myself, just for fun.

This setup is about the best value I can come up with on PSA or Aero.
CHF barrel, drop in CMC trigger and Ni Boron BCG for $650.
I think I have an extra charging handle laying around somewhere.
Think I may have to pull out the credit card soon.

Looks good, idk what buffer weight that lower build kit comes with. It seems 14" needs an h2 or so. And some kind of sighting system. Plastic mbus sights work well until you have the funds for an optic.

Honestly, being so close to Black Friday, I'd be tempted to wait the extra month + change and see what PSA runs on these. Probably going to be a halfway-decent sale this year.

All valid points.
I went ahead with the PSA 14.7 upper purchase since it was on clearance at half off and free shipping.
I'll wait on the other parts to see if a better deal comes up as we get closer to black friday.
Thanks everyone for your help
That's a good way to go. If it's two things I expect to be on sale on PSA for BF it's BCGs and LPKs. Great time to pick up spares of both.
