PTR 9CT (MP5 clone) comparison to CZ Scorpion123618711_379367276547993_5717956617344673623_n.jpg
I'll be basing this off how it felt stock wise.

The CZ does have upgraded springs, polished internals, grip. trigger and trigger work and an extended paddle release
PTR completely stock (Wide handguard was added after testing)

Both 9mm
PTR - Roller Delayed
CZ- Blowback

Initial weight, they are roughly felt the same in hand, the scorpion feels bulky in hand but balanced. PTR feels longer and slim.

Length:
Without brace:
PTR: 18"

CZ: 16 1/2
Barrel:

PTR 8.86"

CZ 7 3/4"

Field stripping both is relatively easy, the CZ does break down into fewer parts than the PTR. However, I do find cleaning the PTR a lot easier to do than the CZ.
Shooting, the clunky feel of the CZ is nowhere to be found on the PTR. It's smooth loading and firing attributes to the roller-delayed system. Reloading is something that will take some time to get used to, the CZ has the last round bolt open. Reloads are much faster with the CZ, mags drop away, and bolt release is easy. The manual of arms with the PTR/MP5, dead man click, manual lock bolt open, and remove the mag ( mine did not fall out with the factory EST mag). This is a matter of practice at this point. I primarily shoot suppressed, gas blowback is definitely lower on the PTR/MP5. Both can utilize the "famed" HK slap. Though the CZ has a smaller charging handle

Factory sights: The hooded diopter sights on the PTR have always been a favorite. The CZ has a nice set of sights with different back sights that rotate like a Ferris wheel.

Stock vs Stock - The PTR wins this one

Controls: CZ has ambidextrous the PTR is left side only. The stock CZ controls are long and have a tendency to dig into your trigger finger. PTR, a little high for me but still able to switch without breaking my grip.

Factory grips:
I would have to say the angle of the PTR is more comfortable than the stock CZ, I currently have a Paske Pathfinder in the CZ. The PTR is more narrow, but I do plan on switching out to a Nazy style trigger housing.
Accuracy: I didn't see a big difference in accuracy, but was able to ring steel at 100y with the PTR.
Magazines: The CZ overall has a better design, not to mention much cheaper. 30-99 vs 15-30
Price base: (pre-covid/panic)

CZ: $900

PTR: $1659

Anything HK style or related comes with an associated tax. The CZ, parts have been cheap and usually in stock.

Pro vs Con

PTR:
PRO
"Cheap" MP5 clone
Roller delayed goodness
nostalgic feel
Parts available

CON:
Not as "cheap" compared to the CZ
Parts can get pricey
Upgradeability is expensive and not common
No LRBHO, magazine release

CZ:
PRO
Affordable
Blowback reliable
Upgrade parts are cheap and available
LRBHO

CON:
Recoil impulse makes it feel clunky
IMO needs to upgraded to make it a comfortable shooter
The charging handle is small and easy to cheese grate your knuckle
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either choice. I do prefer the PTR/MP5, shooting suppressed is much more comfortable.

I have both, well a Z5RS and now have an SP5. While both are 9MM, it's really apples to oranges. The Scorpion seems to get more "hate" or negatives when these types of comparisons come up, but then somehow almost everyone seems to have one and keep it.

You're basically talking about half the initial investment for the Scorpion, plus cheaper mags. Spend another $200 on the trigger, mag release, your preferred safety setup for each side, and grip, and it's hard to find many faults in the Scorpion. LRBHO, eats everything you throw at it, and in my opinion handles very well.

Having said that, I'll never get rid of either of mine. But I'll likely be shooting the Scorpion more, suppressed or not.

I can see the hate, I honestly like shooting mine. I have a lot more trigger time on a CZ then the PTR. I was originally going to SBR the scorpion, then the announcement of the PTR came out. I waited till I could finally get one that was in stock. I'll be SBRing the PTR. I'll eventually get a AKV/KP9 shortly as well.
