Punisher, Netflix

Tell me about it. Iron Fist was slapped together with a millennial protagonist who couldn't accept the truth when it was staring him in the face. Zen master Pfft.

Yeah, tell me about it. He's a highly trained martial artist, even before he won the Iron Fist. Yet he spends the entire first season getting his angsty *ss kicked by virtually everybody he came across.

And then whining about it.

Chit yeah man! I'm ready! Did it say Dec 2017? Kinda hard to see.
They're intentionally keeping the premiere date obscured. Look at the description on the YouTube page. It has a redacted block over the date.

"Marvel's The Punisher premieres globally █████ 2017, only on Netflix."

Stranger Things is October 27, So it seems like they'd roll it out a month later. Wouldn't want to release it on top of each other.

I'm thinking the week before thanksgiving. But next month would be fine with me. Lol, Stranger Things should have been 10/13 release date though

Watched the first two episodes last night and I thought it was a little slow, but character development sometimes is. Looking forward to the remaining episodes.

Thats Netflix modus operandi with the Marvel shows. Slow for 3-5 episodes, then take off like a rocket, and end wirh a bang. I'm 4 in and it is slow, but they have to build the character for non comic fans. Or else he will just be a sociopath and people will quit watching.

Strangely enough, I've been reading a lot of reviews for Punisher on Netflix. SJW reviewers are trashing it because of...wait for it...guns.

I agree. Before the netflix shows I knew nothing of the DC or Marvel comic history. It's interesting talking to a couple old school comic guys I work with and getting their take on the shows. I'm still trying to learn the background stories of the characters, but yesterday a guy started talking about parallel universe? and alternate history? so, obviously I still have a lot to learn...

Writers had to embrace the Multiverse or else the nerds would tear them apart whenever they got something off from the timeline.

I watched the first one Friday while exercising. It was a bit slow, but I didn’t think it was terrible.

I think the 2nd season will see the true Punisher from the comics. Kinda like they did with Daredevil season 1 and 2. I appreciate that they go slow at first...develope the character, lay down plot and story...kinda like being back in the 80's.

I have no problem with the pace so far (watched the first two). Like Better Call Saul: I appreciate that it doesn’t jump right in with what you think and/or expect the storyline to be.

The 1969 Mustang that the ICE agent (or whatever agency she’s in) drives is damn near a replica of my car I built with my dad in high school. For a minute there, I thought it was my car (I haven’t owned it since about 2003...have no idea where it is now).

I’m on episode 9. They should have named his psychopathic, backstabbing buddy Shane. Lol.

Worth watching. Definitely opened the first episode well, in the first 60 seconds or so.

OK, no spoiler alert here, HOWEVER...

On Episode 5, if you want to skip ahead to about 5:10 remaining, I promise you won't be disappointed.

GOOD LORD, Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani) has a nice *ss!

And I ain't talking about a nice, blue jean covered *ss, either...

Aaaaaaand, they're back at it in Episode 6 (actually, still at it apparently, "2 nights in a row") at about 46:00.

Not as nice a view, but still...

I love the old mustangs, but when that episode came on I looked over at my wife and said "There is no way in hell that old mustang is keeping up with the new one in all of that cornering with the tire set up she has"

And I was honestly surprised they did the cliche and impossible scene of escaping and then somehow, miraculously, the pursuer gets 3 blocks in front of the one being chased for a head to head showdown.

I was talking the 2-3 second shot in the first episode when she's pulling into the agency.

I have no knowledge of such a car chase.

"Thank you" for that premonition.

We finished it yesterday. I enjoyed it for mindless fun, that dude sure can take a Azz Whoopin. I wish they’d done a bit of back story more than just flash backs. I know they did 2 movies and everyone should know why he became what he is but I thought it was a bit odd to just jump into 1 year later. Gun play and fights were entertaining bad guys were predictable.

As far as I can tell (and I'm a far cry from a comic book snob), the back story of this one is significantly different than the previous iterations of the storyline. I think the original punisher was a former FBI agent whose family was murdered by a crime boss.

Yeah me either, but I seem to remember in the comics he was always a Marine. I think, in the movies made about him, you're right he was an FBI agent in at least one of them but even in that one I think he was still a Marine that had become an FBI agent.

I think the reason for the Marine background is the whole Marines are trained killers and bat sh!t crazy and can snap at any time. At least that's my take on it. When he first emerged in Marvel Comics there had been a few incidents with Marines doing just that, going nuts and killing a bunch of people.
