The wife said to choose between puppy or human child. I said puppy. All the dads out there please confirm I’m making the right choice 😂

This is the pupper I found. She’s a 6.5 weeks full bread German shepherd. DB43CF87-8064-4036-B386-FFEC05C0096E.png

Both me human son an' me human daughter are gettin' married this year. We've buried one dog in their lifetimes, and all of us'n have dogs now. So, I'm sayin', get both.
Both wouldn’t be to shabby. I’m pretty sure I can talk her into it. She’s more worried about the the training aspect since she’s never been involved with doing so.

I went from looking at Glock slides to puppies. Now I have the urge fir a fury animal.

Good looking pup. At 6.5 weeks she's a little too young to be seperated from her Mom and litter.

You're going to experience a land shark phase between 10-12 weeks. It's going to make you a little crazy for sure. Ours had my wife in tears.
Keep her socialized with all the people in the family "circle of trust". It'll make life easier down the road if she knows and accepts everybody you invite over to the house.

We have both. I prefer children, but I obviously didn’t have to choose between them.

Child and dog. The dog you can confide in at times and just sit quietly with while you have a hand on their head. They will love it.

A child, try to sit quietly with a toddler. They don't know what it means. But....When they get older and start to talk to you and have questions about the world, its awesome. And their creativity. A friend had a kid before me, and he said it was great because children make you remember your sense of imagination. You get it back and create some fun times for children.

Pups only for me. Never had kids, don't really care for them. I also was more into my hobbies and didn't want to give them up for the expense of kids. Plus, when my mom asked when I was gonna give her some grandbabies, I said, mom, look at the crazy bi$+734 I date, you think they're mom material, lol.

I was either lucky or sterile as a younger man
What must THAT be like?! 🤔

All I remember, was the wife always running in the room with a "Pee 'n' See" shouting - "We're PREGNANT!" 🥰

"Well how the hell did THAT happen?!?! I'm sitting here watching "COPS," minding my own business, and we're having a(nother) KID?!?!" 😯

(And what's this "WE'RE," white woman?! 🤨)

Kept me from getting chained to some psycho dependapotamus, that's for sure. I didn't get married till I was 31 & she turned so psycho, I quit screwing her specifically to not have that witch in my life a day longer than necessary.

Remarried at 36 to an old flame from 15 years prior. We'd have liked to have a kid, but she has a family history of bad female problems & had to have the ol' incubator removed a couple years before we got back together. Instead, we've got a small pack of spoiled rotten carpet sharks & a pile of grand nieces & a grand nephew to spoil.

Hahaha. We still want to travel a bunch but just realized that our time will be running out soon.

Kids cost more money, but my dog has diarrhea right now so I’ve got nothing. Maybe a fish.
Yeah the wife offered me a hamster instead.

Have you ever seen a dog eat a White Castle burger? I deal with shit all day long while she work. I swear I came gone and there was diarrhea all over the walls, bed, floor and even vacuum. 😂 I felt so bad for her.

The question is do you want to clean up crap for the 4-6 months it takes to potty train or the rest of your life?

Kids are great don't get me wrong. I love my kid but it's now 10 Freaking o'clock on Friday night and she is just trying to finishing her dang homework. We normally go to bed at 8:30 for mommy daddy time and winding down. I'm just a little grumpy.

Give it up. It ain’t going happen on a Friday night. [emoji23]

I’ll be happy to offer some advice via PM if you want it. Otherwise, good luck!

Both but the puppy you can train in a few months to a year tops , the kids well im still working on training them and the out come is questionable at this point so ill have to get back to you in atleast 10-12 more years if I survive them 😁. All kidding both are great but i will advise not to have a kid and get brand new puppy at the same time unless you want to take some years off your life like I did.

GSD are very smart. I am working with mine on hand signals. We have got him so he will lie down, stand up, and come just on hand signals alone. He catches on quick. He's very protective of the wife and will let you know when something isn't right.

Key to any new pup, especially dogs like a GSD, is teach it their place in the pack. They need to be reminded where they fall in the order as well as who is in their pack. I have seen slack owners be run over by a GSD as well as a GSD stand over top of the family cat to protect it because she knew that cat was her pack brother and she needed to protect it. Roles need to be defined early and enforced constantly for the benefit to dog as well as the family for the overall happiness of all.

Terrible time to bring children into this world….my heart breaks for my 6 year old daughter because of how much Covid has robbed her of. Good choice on the pup.
