Looking at a set of 2017 TRD Off Road take offs to put on a 2014 TRD Off Road. Wondering if we are going to have any issues. Tire size is exactly the same so I think we will be good to go but I'd like some feedback from someone more knowledgeable than myself on this. I've done some research and this is what I've found. Its the differences in bold italics that make me wonder. I don't even know what those numbers signify.

2014 TRD Off Road
Tire - 265/70R16 111T Rim 7Jx16 ET30

2017 TRD Off Road
Tire - 265/70R16 112T Rim 7Jx16 ET25

Smart guys, please help this ignorant person out!!

Thanks

Thanks guys!

@chrishf12 , The takes offs I'm looking at had the TPMS removed. Was gonna take the TPMS sensors out of the wheels on the truck now and put them into the take offs we are getting. Assuming that will be ok....?

I'm not sure about the 112 vs 111, but the 7J 16 is the rim style and bolt pattern, the ET25 vs ET30 is the offset, close enough not to matter.

You will have to swap your 2nd Gen sensors, the 2nd Gens won't read the 3rd Gen TPMS.

Thanks guys!

Often times they get broken when taking them out. For what it costs to remove the tire and TPMS valve for your old, it make cost less just to get new ones. It takes all of about 30 seconds to register the new ones.
Newer vehicles might be different. My wife's Charger reads off each tire and displays it. But every other vehicle has only had an warning display for low pressure and have to measure each to find out which one.

Thanks guys!

To what @fishgutzy said, Make sure the tire shops know the tires have TPMS sensors in them prior to putting them on the tire machine. They should know the correct procedure for the machine not to break the sensor. If they are breaking sensors when mounting and dismounting tires they are doing it wrong.

Tacoma's TPMS system does not register the location of the tires. However do check your spare, some of the 2nd gen Tacoma's included TPMS in the spare tire and drives people crazy when they swap the spare out for a different one and cannot figure out why the TPMS light stays on.

@dorton knows his Toyota's as well and may be able to add to this.

I had an AEV pro cal when I had my 2010. Programmed the tpms point to 0psi. Ha!
