I recently moved from Forsyth to Davie county do I need to go to Forsyth tell em I moved? They give me anything to prove to Davie county sheriff I have a valid chp?

Yes you need to get a change of address receipt. Didn't cost anything in Stanly I don't think it will cost you anything. I had to keep it with me just like the chp

When I moved across town, I went to the sheriff's office with my updated NCDL and they gave me a certificate/permit/something that I laminated and carried with my permit that reflected my new address.

When I moved within Alamance Co. (Literally a mile away). I went to the Sheriff's Dept with my updated DL. I filled out a change of address form, they gave me a receipt to take with me, and I got an updated permit in the mail about 2 weeks later.

1st get your new DL which you can go online https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/ and just do a change of address and have it mailed to your new address (change your vehicles registrations at the same time too). After you receive your new DL go to issuing Sheriff and do address change ... they will give you an address change paper you must carry with you new DL and current CHP. Next if you want you can go to your new Sheriff and you can request a replacement CHP with new address (I think $15) which he’ll issue after receiving your file from your previous Sheriff ... expect this to take a few weeks. When it comes time for renewal the new Sheriff will have your file and renewal will be same as before.
