Is this true? Because a Tac -13 is considered a “firearm” and did not start life as a shotgun, I was told I can NOT get a stamp and make a SBS out of it?

That doesn’t make much sense… then again neither do most AFT rules.

But what if you start with a bare receiver? Of course it can become an SBS. When doing a Form1, you’re MAKING a new firearm, so you can make it into almost anything, within the law of course.

Not true. Tons of people have turned them (and Shockwaves, etc) into SBSs.

A stripped AR lower doesn’t start life as a rifle, but it’s never stopped us from turning them into SBRs. 😉

Thanks guys, I figured it was a load of crap. This guy overheard a conversation between my self and a friend decided he was gonna set us straight lol

You can absolutely make it into a SBS, I've done it with a TAC-14 without (legal) issue. However, once it is a SBS it probably can't (legally) go back to being a "firearm" because it will have had a stock attached.

Well, yeah, but this isn't 1986.

The potatoes at hand are the only ones around.
