I've got two semi-auto rifles that choot & cycle CCI Quiet-22 ammo... a 1929 Remington Model 24 (predecessor to Browning SA-22), and a Winchester Model 190 circa 1974-1980.

Semi-autos I have that won't cycle Quiet-22 include Ruger 10/22, Marlin 60, & Remington Speedmaster.

What semi-autos do ya'll have that will cycle using Quiet-22?

Not to introduce thread drift, but I believe your Mod 24 was the predecessor to your SpeedMaster which was the predecessor to the Browning SA..... Amazing how they evolved and the final product that resulted.

Back on track, I tried the CCI Quiet in a Browning Buckmark and even though it cycled I couldn't tell any difference in noise, and only a little difference when put through a Marlin bolt gun. Not enough to matter in my situation.....

I only run this stuff in lever and bolt guns since it drops about 3" at 50ft. Tried it in my Ruger SR22 pistol and no bueno. Same in a Marlin 60.

Could the difference be that older 22s were engineered to eat .22 short, .22 long, and .22 long rifle, and therefore had more "accommodating" actions? That would seem to explain the ability to cycle lower-powered rounds.

As for mine, one is from the late 60's and the other from the late 90's. Both reliable cycle what I've fed them, though I have not knowingly tried "quiets" as an experiment. they just made it into the ammo mix periodically.

They won’t cycle my Squirrel stock Marlin tube fed semi auto or my Sig 1911-.22 or my wife’s Walther P22

For a 10/22 I'd look for a lighter bolt such as one from Volquartsen ($$$) or pick up a lighter recoil spring (I think Kidd makes one) and trim it down if needed until it cycles. You can radius the back of the bolt as well when using the lighter recoil spring and that should help.

Yup - Volquartsen makes a bolt specifically for stuff like this. I actually am building a new 10/22 now with swappable springs. I'll let you know if the quiet stuff will cycle with the subsonic spring.

That ain't quite right...

In 1914, FN licensed the JMB patent to produce the SA-22 outside the US.
In 1919, Remington licensed the same JMB patent to produce the Model 24 in the US.
In 1935, Remington modified the locking mechanism and renamed it the Model 241 Speedmaster.
In 1951, Remington discontinued the Model 241.
In 1956, FN exported the SA-22 that they had been making since 1914 to the US.
In 1957, Remington introduced the Model 552 Speedmaster, an unrelated design.
In 1974, Mirokou started making the Browning SA-22 for FN.

Quiet doesn’t cycle my semis (10/22, M&P pistol and rifle), but SV does pretty well both suppressed and unsurppress. Plus Quiet drops an insane amount compared to SV and HV ammo.
