Just sharing some pics of the process.
The rifle is a Gen 1 R700 5R in .308 from AccuSport with an HS Precision stock
Using a Badger Ordnance M5 Enhanced bottom metal & AI AICS magazine
Test fitting using the supplied bedding pillars to the barreled action to check fit, function and clearance (to receiver and for the flat trigger of the Timney CEG)
Used a snap cap in the AI AICS mag to check function. Looks like a perfect feeding angle to the feedramp when the bolts pulled back.
This was hard to get a pic of, but it’s a very close fit between the BO bottom metal and the receiver. Can just see daylight through the gaps
Actually messed up and orders the AI “AX” AICS mags, and they don’t fit as-is. After some searching I discovered that the small tab on top of the front face is the only difference between the “AX” and normal ACIS mags and I could tap it back down flat and now it fits and functions great.
Just a comparison of stock parts and the replacement.
This next part I half expected after researching the kit before ordering. Only a handful of references to a drop in fit to some other factory stock, but mine will need to be inlet, so it’s getting boxed up and sent to Badger, where they’ll use a cnc mill to achieve a hopefully perfect fit
I’m assuming they’ll also have to remove the factory bedding pillars in the HS-P stock to use the supplied pillars as the instructions implicitly state not to modify the pillar length.
They run stocks through the mill every ten days so it shouldn’t be too long before I can update the thread.
