Several years ago a friend of mine died from some virus he contracted from a rabbit while hunting in SC. It messed his nervous system up really badly. He could not speak or walk. After battling the infection for several months it eventually killed him by shutting his nervous system down. I used to rabbit hunt a lot and was supposed to go with him when he became infected but due to work that year, I never got to go with him. Guess I got lucky. His fate could have been mine. They think he contracted the virus during the cleaning/skinning process.
