Does anyone have a recommendation for a repair shop? Preferably someone in Mecklenburg/York area. I don't have an immediate need but I frequently see rigs with good reputation being sold as tech specials at good prices. I don't have the skills or tools to repair them myself.

I know of this guy in Winston-Salem. He has a very good reputation. http://triadelectronicsupply.com/services.htm

We offer limited repair of used Amateur & Other Communications Equipment. Modern Radios have much more SMT and require precision work and parts. We will evaluate the repair, and determine whether the work is within our scope. If Not, your only cost will be the shipping fee to return it!

I no longer have access to an SMT rework station... One of these days I am going to get one and set up my mad scientist laboratory.

I will give a strong second to Mike at Triad Electronic Supply in W.S Very knowledgeable and stands behind his work. Particularly good with Kenwood transceivers.
