I’m kinda “in to“ car shows because it is fun to talk with people about the history of our 1919 Model T and it usually wins a trophy or two if it is a judged or peoples voting show. It usually wins first or second in class, and has won peoples choice numerous times and Best of Show a couple times. I use the trailer to get the T to the show because it is a slow for most roads.
The T is still in NH but last night I had Car show withdrawal so I took the truck to a what was advertised as a car show on Capital Blvd near Lowes To see what was going on. It was weird! In NH we might call it a cruise in but this was more like a bunch of spoiled teen wanta bees with mussel cars and ricers hanging out in a parking lot. I must admit that there were a couple nice pickup trucks.
when I arrived there were 4 cruisers with blue lights and a bunch of folks standing around. I asked what was going on and a guy said the cops followed someone into the lot, started going thru his car, and found a gun. After that calmed down, a guy started yelling that someone was sending a bus and we were all going to be arrested. I asked one of the kids what the guys problem was and he told me that the cops were most likely going to break up the “car show“ in about an hour.
I stayed for another 15-20 minutes and decided to leave. This was the strangest “Car Show” “Cruise In“ I have ever been to, but learned that a monthly Cars and Coffee was real neat happening, and it is during the daylight. The only warning was that I should arrive before 8:30 AM for an 8:00 to 11:00 get together because over 1,000 vehicles show up.
My 1919 Model T and me with a first in class and best of show trophy.
