So a while back I acquired one of those Help! emergency CB radios. What do I find in the Salvation Army today but another brand of the same thing.

CB traffic is pretty sparse around here but it worked well enough to hear one side of a conversation between what sounded like the office and some sort of field repair guy.

It comes with a mag mount or HT setup using the same antenna and a mount as well as a 12v power cord and battery box for 8 AA batteries. This one is pretty much pristine, the inner box looks brand new too, even the decal.

Looks like a neat unit, never seen such an animal, I know of handhelds of course, but my experience has pretty much entirely been mobile related.

I moved the one from my brief driving days to my pickup, I used to listen to the trucker talk and some loud mouth in a base station near W-S.
Then my poor little Cobra was too close to a lightning strike or something, boiled the enamel off the all ferrites, cooked one of the crystals, and who knows what else, powers on, shows to transmit, no sound, I'll probably replace it someday.

used to have one of these....don't do what i did.
i left the batteries in it. they leaked and ruined it.

It actually had batteries in it when I got home, but the battery case is detachable and I guess not having a complete circuit makes them take longer to burst and leak because they were fine.
