Not sure if this is the right place for this question so if not, will a mod please move to correct place. Do you have a "first aid/trama kit" that you carry to the range? If so, if you did not put it together yourself, where and what did you purchase? Can't decide if I want to assemble a kit or purchase one. Thanks

I put mine together myself. I am an Firefighter/EMT and wanted something minimalist but that I could handle most of the common range/shooting major kill you type injuries kit I could keep on my belt. I have a TPG Black small slider med pouch ( I love it,Its ambi so you can pull it from either side and reply it. ) on my belt I wear at the range. I carry a CAT tourniquet in an HSGI TQ holder beside it. In the kit is 2 Hyfin chest seals, 1 NPA, 1 Israeli bandage, 2 6" cling wraps, 4-4x4 bandages, trauma shears and two pairs of nitric gloves. This should get me through anything that will kill me ( or someone else ) quickly. The other stuff I carry in my truck is for smaller boo boos, Bandaids and such.

Thanks guys, this is good info. I probably will buy a small basic kit and add some trauma items. I already have 2 tourniquets I keep in the trucks or close by and will pick up 1 or 2 more to add to the kit. Zbizzle911 I am familiar with a "S" tube airway, but not the Nasopharynge air. Is it better or easier to insert? BurnedOutGeek the IFAK would be good to throw in my range bag.

Are you talking about an Oral pharyngeal airway? if so either will work as long as there's no head trauma ( like a GSW to the dome) but the nasal is easier to carry around in my opinion bc its flexible. Youjust put it in the nostril and sink it home. The NPA is good when someone still has a gag reflex so an OPA won't work then bc they'll be puking lol

I am not a med/EMT guy so I did a bunch of research and got some pointers from an LE friend who does have some training. I ended up putting together a handful of similar kits for each vehicle, GHB, and range bag. I got most items on Amazon and had a few given to me.

Below is the last pic I took but it doesn’t include everything, for example I have a TQ and chest seal in each kit. I’ll try to remember to get an updated pic and list as I actually would like to hear what critique others might have.

My goal was to be able to handle the majority of minor to moderate injuries with as small a kit as possible. Each one cost me around $80 all in. Buying multipacks and building multiple kits helped a ton.

If you do not know how to safely place an airway, don't get an airway. That is actually above standard procedure, and you would not be covered under Good Samaritan laws.

If you want a premade kit, my recommendation for a pack or range bag is a kit made by Adventure Medical Kits (AMK).

I have had classes on these and built these, I'm happy to answer any questions.

I do not have the level of medical training as some on here but I have been through quite a few, and used to instruct TCCC courses in the Army (and have employed said aid in the field).

My more serious trauma bag at home has IV bags, lines, suture kits, scalpels etc. but my day to day and range first aid solutions are more tailored to getting the casualty to a higher level of care (ie flight medics, hospital, etc)

And like @Chuckman said, if you don’t know how to use it, either get the training on it or don’t pack it!

My minimalist kit that I carry everywhere (into work, etc):

Israeli bandage
CAT TQ
QuikClot Gauze

I might add (or replace) my Israeli bandages with Olas (I think it’s something like that) Brand bandages that come with extra items that can be used to treat other wounds like a plastic piece that can be used as a chest seal as well as additional gauze for wound dressing

My more in-depth “IFAK” I have in my range bag (that goes everywhere with me), I listed the contents in another thread but reposting:

Quikclot combat gauze (I only have a couple rolls of this so I bring powdered quikclot which is not ideal in some situations but if I run out of the z-fold gauze and I can’t get the bleeding stopped or there are multiple casualties it might be needed)
Pouch of powdered quick clot
Israeli bandage
TQ
Curlex wrap
Gauze pad with Muslin wrap (old school dressing; can be used as a sling for broken arm or wound covering)
Narcan auto injector
Epi Pen
Nasopharyngeal airway
Chest seal
Tape
Scissors
Sharpie
Small boo boo kit with bandaids, small one time use alcohol pads, Neosporin etc

I generally just try to make sure @Zbizzle911 will be there if I’m going to the range.

I heard once "if you can't carry a trauma bag, at least carry a trauma surgeon."

Of course, my response is, "if they don't have any supplies, what can they do that I can't? If they have my supplies, what can they do that I can't?"

Here’s a pic for size reference of my TPG Black med pouch. Did I mention I love it?
