Finally made it to the range this morning with my PC Carbine that I picked up from Academy's Black Friday sale. Didn't have a chance to tear it down, clean and lube so I just shot it as it came out of the box. I was a bit pressed for time as we had tons of family holiday stuff happening today.

I took with me a mix of Federal 9BP (115 gr. HiShok JHP) and Winchester Q4318 (124 gr. NATO FMJ). I didn't bother with any 147 gr. ammo. From what I understand you may get a few more FPS out of the light weight stuff in a PCC and possibly a few less FPS from the heavy stuff.

Even though I have an RMR (Dual illuminated 12.9 MOA Amber triangle) on it, it's in a QD mount and my first thought was lets get the irons sorted out. I popped the RMR off, took aim at a 6" Dirty Bird target at the 25 yard line and fired 8 rounds of the 124 gr. NATO. First 8 rounds here:

I then popped the RMR on and fired 5 rounds. Surprisingly it was already shooting to the same POA. first 5 with the RMR here:

Satisfied that POA=POI, I started running double tap drills on a silhouette target from low ready.

It was at this point that I had my only failure of the day and it was mag related. I was running Ruger SR9 17 round mags, with Arredondo +5 extensions. Those Arredondos are meant for M&Ps but they can be lightly modified to work with the SR9. Let's just say that on one of them, the modification didn't take and this happened:

The last round in the 22 round mag nosedived into the mag itself, preventing the bolt from going into battery. Once I cleared the mag and switched, I didn't have an issue. I will say that my other two modified mags ran like scalded dogs. I tried to untilt the follower on this mag by loading rounds into it as I didn't have a proper tool along to disassemble the mag. I was unsuccessful. I will say though that after loading 5 rounds into it to try to untilt it, I successfully fired those 5 rounds from the PC Carbine without any further jams. With the tilted follower in the mag even!

From there I went to slowfire drills using the RMR for headshots at 25 yards. And by "slowfire" I mean I was on about a 1 round per second pace. Results here:

I then shot it a lot more, transitioning between the silhouette and dirty bird targets. I ran 250 rounds through it plus what was already loaded in the 3 mags I brought with me, for a grand total of 316 rounds. Only hiccup was that mag issue and I'm thoroughly satisfied with its performance. I think the RMR I have on it is the perfect setup personally. I've got it in a Midwest Industries low, cantilevered QD right now. I have in mind fabricating an aluminum mount that would attach to the rear sight base and allow the rear sight to be utilized while co-witnessing with the front sight. It works in my head, I just have to see if I can get it to work in aluminum. Hope to get to that in the next week or so.

Nice review Tom. My son in Wilmington just bought one and brought it here at Thanksgiving. They love it.

I shot one the other week. I really liked it.
