I managed to slip away today for a couple of hours and hit the range. Took the 6.5 out really for the first time with a Sig Whiskey scope. At 100 yards it took maybe 4 shots to get it in the bullseye. Then we headed to the 500-yard range.
I was shooting a bunch of different powders and cannot believe the difference it makes in that caliber. I think that I was using 760, 748 (did not have anything else when I got the dies), 8208, 4350 and RL-17. Not sure which one shot the best but leaning towards the RL-17 just because it was loaded hotter than the rest.
To be honest, out to 500-yards I could not tell much of a difference between the 308 and 6.5. I know that the 308 hit harder at 300-yards based on the noise it made.
Next trip is a test trip with a chrono. The rifle now has about 75 to 80 rounds through it.
