Ranger students die in training

Is this the first multiple casualty incident since the four died during swamp phase due to hypothermia like 30 years ago?

I hate hearing about training deaths like this

There have been recent lighting strike casualties but not in Ranger School I don't think. The hypothermia incident seemed preventable. This was a freak storm with 60 mph winds and there was a weather stand down already issued. Speculating but they were probably sheltering in place together bunched up. Not sure this was as easily predictable as leaving guys in the cold water. Tragedy any way you look at it.

Damn that sucks. My neighbor in the mountains wanted to mushroom hunt our property last week. I warned him there are widow makers in the back and if it’s windy he should not wander back there. Trees are heavy and powerful.

There was an incident in 2001 at Ft Carson. Several soldiers from 4ID struck by lightning.
1 killed- PRC Thomas Lynn Hodge.

Rest easy brother, with any luck we shall meet again in Valhalla, Hodgegoblin.

We had a kid in basic take off his helmet to stretch his head. He then caught a widow maker full in the face. Most of his face was ripped off and hanging.
The senior drill sergeant, Matt Barnes, who was a Ranger was impressed with the kid’s stoicism and ripped off his Ranger scroll which was on his right sleeve (Really big deal back in the late 1990’s) and gave it to the kid.
I saw the kid later, they had stapled his face back on, he looked like Frankenstein’s Monster. He mentioned he had blinding migraines too.
Poor guy…
