What about my head and face? Leave it ragged or????
If I had of done it over I'd have shaved beard, and everything on my face. My beard hair is ultra thick Irish red and is right now driving me insane pressing against the brace.

Head hair is ok. You just don't want to cut that in a week or two and risk getting clippings in between your neck and brace.

And you know what...dont forget to tell your doctor after surgery, when he comes by to check on you and give the Ok to leave that oxy screws you up and makes you sick. Ask if you can have a different pain reliever. Tell your wife these things as you might be doped up and can't remember.

I told them today that the oxy is starting to bother me making me nauseus and sweaty.
I asked them about shaving they adamantly said no, they want it as fresh as possible before surgery. Different hospitals different protocols.

Hope I do as well you Mike. The way they were talking to me at the rehab center today, I'm not sure I am gonna be released to work in 2 weeks.
Me and Trudi went around in the car about that, she said what doc says is important, what they told you at rehab isn't the doctor......um....yeah it is. I told her things may have changed a bit and he hasn't told me yet.
Anyway. It isn't inconceivable to me that upon further study of my MRI things will be a bit different. Basically all I know so far is I'm having surgery, and I am certain I have one of the best doctors available. If he decides the best course of action is a Paracord cobra weave tying c4,5,6, and 7, and then, polishing it off with a titanium Spartan helmet screwed to the lot....then by cracky, that's what's gonna happen.

Cool...My doc is holding me out of work 6-8 weeks. If yours lets you go back in 2...then rock on. I don't want to be out of work that long...hate sitting around.

Great news! Will continue to pray for Trudi and you as well as your surgeon.

Don't forget to post here as soon as you wake up. A post-op Heron has got to be some-kind-of hilarious.

Saying a prayer now for you my friend...

I have to be at the surgery center at 0500, surgery sposed to start around 0730, should take about 3 hours.
They may let me go home they may release me Saturday. They told me prepare for overnight in case.

Lord...we think a lot of Brother Joe, and we know You do, too. Take care of him this morning, calm his and Trudi's nerves, and provide him complete healing and relief from the pain. Steady the surgeon's hands. In His name we ask these things. Amen.
