Rear Sights for AR - 10.5"

This is for a 5.56 10.5" pistol but could be on either rifle/pistol/SBR setups.

Since I have a pistol kit on order with a standard front sight, it needs a rear sight. Looking for setups that are good for 0-100yds. Send suggestions AND pics of what you have.

It just depends on what you want, you can go flip up or fixed. I have both and run the Daniel Defense fixed sights on my rifle and have Magpul MBUS on my pistol, both work just fine.

I robbed the stock one off the 15-22 and ran it on the 15 for about a year before I went glass. They co-witness with a standard FSB perfectly. Surprisingly I did pretty good with it.

I like solid stuff like a KAC Micro or an MATech folding rear. They’re designed with FSPs in mind

I'm using a set off of someone's 15-22. They work. Got them cheap. I've picked up several recently at 40ish for a front rear set or 25 for just a rear.

I'm used to this and was going in that direction. Since I've not picked up anything I'm exploring options.

I don't really want to go magnification and I'm not 'sold' on red dots. But I hear they're good for less than 100yds.

A DD fixed rear is about as solid as anything. New I’ve seen them for $60ish but with Christmas sales watch PSA, AIM, Job Bob’s, etc and you’ll likely catch one for $50 or less. Also someone here did have one for sale not to long back ...

The KAC are pretty tough sights, but I wouldn’t want a folding sight if it’s the primary sight.

I’d go with a carry handle or a cut off carry handle rear.

I've used KAC 300/600, MaTech, ARMS #40L, GG&G, and detachable carrying handles. All work as intended, some just cost more. Here's a MaTech


You can also cut down a detachable carrying handle and just have the rear or buy it from LMT. (pic off the net)

They, like the MATech, have held up in combat pretty good. That KAC Micro has a USMC contract and has shipped thousands to Iraq/Afghanistan

I know it’s a “pistol” but if you are not going with any type optic I swear a carry handle would do nice and give it a kinda sorta XM177 look ... just sayin ...
