Looking for recommendations on a pistol light for my Beretta 92X full size. It’s going to be my nightstand gun. I’d like to keep the cost below $100.

FS or compact ? TLR-1 for a full size, TLR-7 for a compact if you plan to ever carry it. At your price point you may not be able to get either unless used, an Olight might be your best choice at less than $100.

92X full size. I looked at the Olight PL2 Valkyrie but figured 1200 lumens would be too bright for indoor use.

I’d think 1200 would be a bit much for indoors. A good handheld light might be an option as well. I am certainly more comfortable pointing a flashlight at someone in my house that could be a friendly versus a light attached to a gun. Just something to think about but we all have to decide what works best for us.

This is true. I already have a Polytac on my nightstand anyway. Maybe I’ll invest in a set of night sights instead.

Night sights look neat, not sure what advantage they actually give you. That is probably a question best left to the more experienced on the forum. I’d take that $100 and buy a really good holster, ammo, or magazines but that is just me. Sounds like you’d be pretty well equipped with what you currently have.

Ditch the night sight ideas and get a WML. IMHO if you don’t have one on a weapon that you use for home defense you bordering on being irresponsible, you have an obligation to be able to identify your target before shooting. Night sights won’t help you do that, and when you turn on that WML, you can’t see them anyway.

For your price range, spend slightly more and get a TLR-1 HL. There is no such thing as too many lumens, learn how to properly employ a WML and you won’t have any issue with blinding yourself.

I might come at this question from another angle.

What HOLSTER do you like? Can you get that holster in a configuration for the light you like?

You’re pretty much guaranteed to find a holster for a TLR-1 equipped pistol.

And, after RO’ing several Night matches, watching literally 100s of shooters, I wouldn’t spend a dime on night sights and I wouldn’t overspend to get super high lumens.

This pistol won’t be carried so a holster is not a concern.

Lumens isn’t nearly as important as candela and head design. That’s why you see all these Chinese specials (Olight, Felix, ect…) that have crazy high lumens but are pretty much useless outside of 25yds.

I would also recommend using the same light that you have on your other handguns. Mixing and matching may cause issues with proper operation or negligent discharges under high stress situations.

I'm going to play devil's advocate in favor of night sights. I'll agree they're mostly useless in a shooting situation, but the role they play is in being able to find your pistol on the nightstand in the dark without turning on lights or making a bunch of noise fumbling about. That's where the value comes in.

I've got an Olight Valkyrie that the nightstand gun wears. It doesn't get holstered, it sits on the nightstand, so the odd brand doesn't matter to me.

I would shop around for the Streetlight TLR-1. The HL model is 1000 lumens and 1.5 hr battery life, slightly more expensive. The TLR1 base model is something like 300 lumens? and 2.5 hr battery life. Plenty bright, great beam, nice tone of light, and super tough. I also think the design of the switch is very save to help avoid a negligent discharge under stress. As I'm typing this I'm thinking, man, I should buy another TLR-1...

I have the tlr-1, tlr-1 HL, X300U-A 600, and have a X300U-A 1000 on the way. I do prefer the XX300U-A over the tlr-1 however you would not necessarily go wrong either way. People talk about lumens a lot but shine a 1,000 lumen at a white wall directly in front of you and see how it negatively effects you. I keep a lower lumen on my dedicated HD gun and put a higher lumen for my carry in case it needs to be utilized outside.

So, this a crazy concept but you could always, just, not do that……..

There is yet to be a weapon light invented that is too bright. Learn how to properly search with a light and you won’t blind yourself.
