Snagged an Arch Angel Arms lower from @Flipside1212 . Have built multiple AR variants through the years, but am struggling to determine what I want to build this one into.

Part of me wants to build it out like one of the service rifles I carried (currently have an M16A2 mostly FN build and M4A1 Colt build. Then some more with just the cool guy stuff that was popular at the time.

After seeing all the ARs the Taliban just took possession of (thanks joe and your hoe), part of me wants to do a basic service rifle but I already have one KISS semi retro semi early GWOT build 723 but with no forward assist and a Larue 7” rail.

what recommend everyone?
@Combat Diver is my inspiration

If you are old and slow build a longer range precision rifle. If you can haul ass and move build a light weight rifle. 😆

Since you already have a basic M4 how about a M4A1 Block I/MWS. Accessories is where they differ. Or a Block II with DD Mk18 (10.3") or M4A1 RIS II handguards?

Meant to type that my Colt build I did was a Block 1.5, mirrored after what I carried with 2nd ID. Only thing I still need to update on it is the optic, currently has a vortex but want to put an Aimpoint on it.

more I think about it, more I want it to be either block 1 (again, it was my introduction to the AR platform so I’m partial) or maybe a Block 2 but all clone stuff prices have rising alot

I remember when I got out the Army in 2014, I had a literal trash bag full of KAC rails they wouldn’t let us turn in that I used to build rifles. Wish I saved a few for rainy days

10.5 or 11.5 pistol. There have been some great deals on Aero 10.5 uppers with the FSB or Ballistic Advantage 11.5 with the Atlas rails. Slap an MRO on it or a Holosun from @TacShift and shoot the heck out of it!

Here's my 10.5 Splatter gun.

Well guys, went a different route. Decided I’d wanted something semi lightweight for my boys to learn on when that times comes, plus I looked at the prices for what DD RIS rails and KAC rails were going for and about passed out, they have certainly gone up more than I remember.

Ended up scoring a sweet 14.5” upper from @AirForce85 , with a Spikes Tactica barrel. Soon as I get it, going to disassemble and replace the Troy rail with a 13” BCM lightweight KMR rail I scored used. Maybe get some DD sights and an optic later on

Hope your boys enjoy it.

I taught my boys long ago on my XM177E2 clone. It had a 2 position receiver extension that I drilled couple more holes to fit them better. This was in the 90s. Course the started with the M261 .22LR conversion dropped in.
