The Wife's Troy M7A1 Carbine has a 1X Trijicon MRO 2.0 Red Dot low mount installed on her top picatinney rail. She expressed an interest in the Vortex VMT-3 magnifier with a built in flip mount. However, the Vortex only comes equipped with a "standard" riser and the red dot and the magnifier don't line up. Is there a "reasonably priced" 3X magnifier with a built in flip mount on a low mount that might line up with the Trijicon MRO 2.0?

This brings up a question I have wondered about for some time. Why doesn't somebody make a magnified red dot??? Is it a mechanical reason?? I would Really like to have a singular small unit that did it all.

They do. They are pretty much 1-4 or 1-6 scopes with a dot. Only down side is they are a little larger than a small red dot. But physics probably dictate that with magnification.

Kinda like a fat 4x scope or so. Depends on what you are looking at. Think there are some 1” Leupolds that are smaller and light, bit probably more 30mm tubes with a little more heft.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I've seen and used lotsa 4 power scopes that were no longer than a dollar bill. The little Colt AR handle glass was 4 power and would be perfect with a red dot. I guess there's more money to be made selling 2 pieces of equipment than one. Red Dot and a magnifier is too bulky for me.

Check out the 3x prism scopes Billy.
Lightweight and available with a selection of illuminated reticles. So you can use like a magnified red dot and also have a basic BDC, etc.
Vortex and Burris have options. The Acog is an option too.

I built a AR with a red dot and Vortex magnifier. It was fantastic and could be shifted either direction out of the way. I don’t see any reason why a simple plate with new screws could not be made by a machine shop. I assume you need to raise the MRO.
