Sending Bushnell Micro Reflex back to Amazon. Always on and I could not see the dot in any light even though I could see the LED was on. No controls and no bottom plate. Have to remove sight to change battery. Too small. I would like the glass to be twice as tall as this micro. Any reccos?

A serious use micro dot, you’re only options are the Holosun 407/507K, EPS carry or the Trijicon RMRc
I could make the argument that RMRc is not even a contender since it's not enclosed. If the optic collects half as much lint as the rest of the gun after it has been living in my pants, an emitter that's not enclosed will not produce a good dot. I've looked through RMRs with lint/rain/mud and they certainly have that weakness. I have an RMR on one of my PDPs, the eps-c on another.

I would disagree, closed emitters have only in the last few years become more common and up until the EPS came out there weren’t any micro enclosed dots. I have been CCing a pistol with a dot for at least the last 7yrs. My dot has been unusable due to lint precisely zero times. Is it possible? Sure, but not likely.

For duty use I would be more inclined to go with a closed dot but again, RDS usage in Mil/LE has become extremely prolific and most are still using open dots to include our Tier 1 units. If it’s an option and in the budget sure, go for the enclosed but nothing wrong with the open emitter style optics.

I have to agree. One days worth of carrying gathers enough lint to block the emitter? Not in my experience.

If you want a budget optic that will actually work, the Riton MPRD is an excellent way to go. I’d argue it’s THE best micro red dot for $100.

If you want something nicer, 507K.

If you want one for general purposes/EDC I am fond of the Holosun SCS as it direct mounts to several different pistols, Glock, Walther, S&W, HK.
For competition/fun the Aimpoint SRO comes to mind.

SCS doesn’t fit the shield OR footprint.

Just parroting this, but I've been carrying a pistol with an open emitter dot for years now and it's never been an issue. Sure, every now and again I'll give it a quick wipe down or blow, but it's never that much of an issue that I don't have a usable dot. I'm also not convinced that there's a single closed emitter dot that can actually last. Reports of broken Acros and 509ts abound from reputable trainers.

Will have to see how the trijicon holds up. Also not sure why the back glass isn’t recessed at all like the front is. Would add a little extra protection.

I’m not sure if the window in the Riton is bigger than the Holosun, but it sure felt bigger. That said, it doesn’t meet his criteria of enclosed battery. But I carried one for a year including spraying things down with CLP regularly and had no issues with the o ring doing its job. I liked it enough that it now sits as a back up dot on one of my AR’s.

interesting. I took a class with a guy who had his gun all tarted up with an RMR and a pile of upgrades. At the end of the class, it came down to me and him going shot for shot on a steel plate at about 60 yards when he finally outshot me and my stock walther pps.
It did rain on us during the class and his shooting fell apart a bit at that point when the water and mud got in there.

I'll admit having very little experience with my RMR. It sits around on a gun until it's time to come out of the safe and shoot it. But that same pps gets absolutely covered in dust, pollen, grass, etc every time I do yard work.
