Here are some tips and reminders for the upcoming 2nd Annual Meet and Greet at Battery Oaks.

Date
October 19, 2019

Location
2055 Mikes Road
Conway, SC 29526

You can come on Friday October 18 if you want. Billy has the bunkhouse that can sleep three. I am not sure of the availability right now. If you are interested in the bunkhouse, just ask.
Tent camping, RV camping, hammock camping are all available. There is room for several sleeping bags on the porches of the bunkhouse. There will be a Port-a-John available but no water or electrical hook ups.
There are several hotels in the area and there is a new campground about 8 miles away that has nice cottages available. https://www.sunrvresorts.com/carolina-pines/

If you attended last year you'll remember that there are not many rules. Everything went very smoothly last year and we expect the same this year. Here are the rules:

When you arrive you will be shown where to park. After parking, immediately go to the sign up area. Here you will sign in and sign the waiver. You will get a name tag and your ticket for the drawings. Everyone must sign up.

1. No one under 21. This is for liability only. There is a waiver form that you'll have to sign before shooting on the range.
2. Battery Oaks is a non-smoking facility. However, at least one designated smoking area will be available for this event.
3. For those spending the night, the gate will be locked at 9PM. No loud noises or music after 9PM.
Billy, his wife, and dog live there and there are neighbors close by. Billy is a non-drinker. No alcohol will be consumed during the day. For those that camp overnight and choose to drink at the end of the day, do so responsibly. If you are wanting to make it a weekend getaway for you and your significant other, you may want look into getting a hotel room at Myrtle Beach and check out some of the many clubs over there. There are many hotels close by.
4. Please pick up after yourself. If you brought it in, please take it out or make sure it goes into one of the trash cans. Brass can be left on the ground.

We will start the first round of the shooting competition during the morning and shoot until a cut off time. Probably right up until the time we break to eat. All scores will be reviewed and the top 5 shooters will advance to the final round. These will be shot in succession shortly after we finish eating. Scores will be reviewed and we will see who the winner will be.

The shooting competition will be similar to last year, you will only shoot 5 rounds at a time. Billy and myself have made sure that none of the regulars that come to Battery Oaks have shot this drill before. Everyone will be shooting it for the first time, everyone will be on even footing for the shooting.

Things to Bring

Bring your own eye and ear protection. No one will be admitted to the shooting area without these.
Bring your handgun and ammo. There will be a friendly competition with prizes. Competition will be for centerfire handguns only, 5 rounds at a time.
Bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
Bring your own drinks and a covered dish to share.
Some door prizes will be given out so be sure to hang on to your ticket.

Last year's event was a huge success and we had a great turnout. After everyone has read the stories and seen the pictures, I'm expecting more people this year.

We are asking everyone to bring a covered dish to share. We are working on some things and I will keep you informed as we go.

We are excited down here in Conway and looking forward to seeing everyone again. This year's event will be bigger and better.

I am going to lock this thread and just use it to update as we get closer. I will create another thread for questions. https://www.carolinafirearmsforum.c...al-battery-oaks-meet-greet.47773/#post-829290
