My wife found this box of 22LR ammo in some old things from my late dad. I am just trying to get a date that it was manufactured or sold. I have researched Remington boxes and cannot find one like this. The only number on the box is 1322 and can't find a reference to this. Appreciate any help .

I think late 50’s to mid 60’ or so. I used to get them at the local roller mill in that time frame. I can remember when we complained they would soon be .50 cents a box and we wouldn’t be able to shoot much. After all, we were only making 75 cents to a buck an hour priming tobacco. Some folks here will know what that is. LOL!

I use to buy those in the mid 60's. Believe I paid about 40 cents at the hardware store.

I found pictures of a similar green and white box from the early 60s,but not the red/white box. Also, the number on the box 1322 ,the first 2 letters are the "load" and the last two are the caliber.

Mixed bag in that box, one appears to have a federal head stamp, some rat shot, maybe a remington plated round nose? Long and long rifle?

Any printing inside the box flaps?

I have a brick of those, your box has mixed ammo. Believe I got it in the mid sixties, there is a code on the individual boxes but I don’t know what it means.

btw I shot thousands of these over the last couple years after going through old stored ammo during the crunch. Out of over 12000 rounds I had 2 ftf.

I also have the green boxes, they are standard velocity

I have this stuff. My uncle found in at my grandfathers house after he died. He said it was from the 50s. It appears to be made by Remington in the same factory as yours. I fired several hundred rounds of it all fired fine except there were a number of blackened rounds that were present that would always malfunction. Those would chamber and fire but would stick in the chamber and refuse to eject. I had to pry them out with a flathead screwdriver.

I have a brick of that from the 60s in 22sh. It shoots just fine. You have 22 Long, not 22LR btw. And a few blanks or shotshells... Can't tell from here.

Here's a similar box of 22LR shot cartridges on Gunbroker. The seller says they date from 1965-70.

Wish I could have traded you some newer ammo, been trying to find a few bricks of this. Reminds me of the days of good eye sight and I didn’t know what arthritis was. LOL

That box is 22 Long which you don’t see nearly as often. Another thing is the rimfire ammo boxes of the days gone by were colorful, and had character. Hard to warm up to plastic even though it does have its benefits. Just an opinion.
