If you go to Raise.com, you can save an additional 11%. Been doing that for years and never a problem. You copy and paste in the Card # and the PIN and are good to go.

My 20" no threads 308 bought some years ago at Dicks is a tack driver. The 223 I bought at the same time, not so much.

My 16.5” .308 AAC branded version of this (identical) is awesome. 168gr SMK over 45gr of 2000MR and you’re in business

I have the AAC version also.
Is yours still in the gumby stock?
I had to ditch that POS.
The leade/throat on mine is very long.
    It's a dedicated subsonic host.

Put mine in a Boyd’s stock...nothing fancy, I just wanted to more vertical grip for my wrist when shooting prone

I got a 500ct box of 150gr plated FP bullets for like $35 a while back and have been using those as my subsonics with Trail Boss.

This is the first rifle (I'm new to bolt-action) where I have to buy a scope base. Are these scope bases made out of magic or something?

Do yourself a favor and get an EGW scope base if you're wanting a picatinny rail. Best bases I have seen for the money, with DNZ a close second.

Traded my "gumby" stock for a box of primers. Bought Bell and Carlson carbine stocks (that they no longer make) . The 308 fit like a glove and the bbl floats. The 223 had to be shimmed to float the bbl.

Thanks, I'll give them a look. They're highly rated on OpticsPlanet.

What about base/integrated rings? I think that would get the scope closer to the comb as one of the complaints is the comb isn't high enough.

I would size the rings to the scope.
The integrated type limit your objective size and scope body.
Your $75 dollar 6.5x30x65mm scope will need taller rings.

So having shot the rifle two weekends, it groups great with high speed rounds, and shoots Mike and Ike's at heavy grains. Just to be sure it wasn't my handloads, I bought some Remington 220 grain and couldn't get less than an 8" group.

Doing some reading online, there was a run of these that had mis-marked barrels. Mine says right on it: 1:7 twist. However, people were testing them at 1:10". I'm certain I had one of these- but this gun was NEW- bought it a week and a half ago. Sooo, after a call with Remington it means this sale really was a clearance- it must have sat on the shelf for years. From the serial number this gun was manufactured in 2014- in the days of the troubles.

Remington (headquartered in NC!) is sending me a shipping label and a box and it'll be repaired in NC. Hopefully I'll get it back quickly.
