John Browning designed the first semi-auto 22 rifle ever. Most folks know it as the Browning SA-22.

Remington had the North American rights from the beginning, until 1951. FN had the rights elsewhere. Browning SA-22 rifles were not sold in the US until 1952.

The Remington Model 24 was made from 1922 to 1935. The Model 241 was made from 1936 to 1951. The biggest difference between the two are that the 241 is larger, and the takedown mechanism is different. The Model 24 is a dainty rifle, compared to the Browning SA-22. The Model 241 is more similar to the SA-22.

Here is a Model 24 (top) and a Model 241. I'm looking for a vintage tang peep sight for the 241, so they can look like a set!

Sorry, can't help with the sight, but I keep an eye out for a model 24 all the time.
I think they are just about perfect, I'd like one in 22 short.
Thanks for posting the photo.

two drilled/tapped holes just before butstock at top rear of receiver.
rear peep extends down butstock.

...and on the Model 24, there is a wood screw at the back end of the peep sight.

So, there's no tang, but the peep is situated like a tang sight.
