Not exactly a mechanic's question but couldn't think of anywhere else to put it.

My 2005 Jeep Liberty has those black plastic external window visors, and every model like mine I've seen does so I expect it was a standard feature and installed by the dealers. Now a couple of them have broken and I have already obtained replacements. I'd just like to hear suggestions for removing the old ones without damaging the paint. I'm leaning toward some kind of a plastic scraper and either a heat gun or goop off, etc. Kinda worried the heat gun might melt these things. Anyone done this before?

I use a piece of fishing line to cut the sticky tape and remove. Then just use my finger tips and rub the remaining adhesive off. FYI this does get kinda warm on your fingers but works great.

Would have never thought of fishing line, thanks.
