Truckers are IMO the most critical people in the country today. They are responsible for getting supplies where they need to be - without them, grocery stores have nothing on their shelves, hospitals don't have their supplies, etc.

So I am working on a musical video tribute to truckers. If you know of any good video clips I could use, please forward my way. Thank you!

I can’t wait to stop being irritated with people thanking me for my military service and to start being irritated with people thanking me for driving.

Same as every day before the Wuhan flu too.

Perhaps for a change of pace you might prefer: "I'd like to affirm you for your jingoistic enabling." :p

I've reverted to childhood waving at the truckers that pass by when collecting the mail. Had a cement truck driver toot back: made my day.

You know, I get what you guys are saying about all the other people, but frankly those folk have restrooms and can bring their lunch with them. You have states that have closed or limited rest stops, and obviously truck stops are closed. No restaurants, trucks are too big for drive-thru. Under the current circumstances, they guys doing the hauling are having a tougher time, because of all those limitations, than the others are. I've heard of many warehouses that won't even let them in to use facilities ("employees only"). Last I heard, PA at least had set up portapotties for them at rest stops, vs. opening the buildings. We have several trucker friends and we're hearing stuff like this from all over.

If you don't agree, that's fine, but given all this, I want to single them out right now.

Really, this was intended as just a fun little project, too, and I don't have a good way to fit anyone else into it. I just wanted to get some good video.

I appreciate the thought.

And to the other points, there is an innumerable amount of folks supporting any of these industries. Trucking is keeping millions on the job. And the restaurant fiasco is sending millions home. I had no idea a buddy of mine did software for restaurants, until he got furloughed Friday.

On a personal level, do us a bigger favor. Start the next social media challenge. #flashatruckerforsupport #boobsout4truckers #showthemtome It's the least you could do.

And use Sturgill Simpson's Long White Line in there somewhere.

The thing that has pissed me off the most about the current ordeal is the restaurants. I’m not currently hauling food items but am hauling goods to protect the guys keeping water and sewage flowing. Friday I stopped at McDonald’s to grab a burger after delivering to a job site. I couldn’t get any food from them. Can’t go into the restaurant and was told I couldn’t walk thru the drive thru line. You can’t pull a truck thru a drive thru. Man I was pissed.

Just messing with you. I don’t drive OTR I drive trash trucks locally.

Around here it’s not too bad. We can still get to the counter and order food at most fast food places. Just have to eat in the truck which sucks.

I feel for the OTR guys that don’t have any rest stops etc.

One thing I’ll add is that the DOT are a bunch of asshats. They got told not to weigh trucks right now. So since they’ve lost the revenue for overweight fines they’re now pulling over every truck they can and writing fines for everything they possibly can no matter how small.

They are literally sitting in high truck traffic areas. They pull over the first truck that comes through for a safety inspection. Go through it and write fines.

Then as soon as that truck pulls off they pull over the next truck that comes by. It’s absolute BS.

It was seeing a truck at a fast food place that made me think of it - in this case, they DID serve him at the window. In fact, they called him over to give him his order while I was waiting for mine. KFC/Long John Silver's in Knightdale. My son and I appreciated that they were working with him, and it got us talking about the crap they're facing elsewhere. He mentioned a song with a title tweak, which led to this idea.

Wrong, if its a paccar its german

I might be wrong but I think he was talkin bout product in the trailer!

I got refused at a Mickey Deez drive thru years ago. My APU had quit otherwise wouldn't have been there.
"You can't walk through a drive thru" they said. Are you F'in kidding me?? They were not. No food for me.

So far I've had no issues with DOT and hope it stays that way. Nice to be able to blow by the scales.
Not that I'm heavy...

And to echo the sentiment, if you've got it a trucker probly hauled it.
So Thank you drivers, and all the other links of the logistics chain as well.

Truckers is the backbone of this nation, right behind Filipino tilt-a-whirl operators.

Guess who gets that Filipino his tilt a whirl? That’s right. Truckers > Filipino tilt a whirl operators.

.... Your probably correct, may bad.

Hey truckers, help me respect you more. Get out of the fast lane!........
I really do respect truckers and the job they do but it's like any other profession, some are pros and some are idiots that just barely got out of CDL school.
Bottom line is, we need to respect all of our fellow humans no matter how menial of a job they have.
Be safe and roll on truckers.
