Mom just called with some questions about her ‘09 Highlander. Two lights on the dash:

She took it to AutoZone and they gave her this paper:

She did actually find the gas gap loose. When she opened the door it fell down hanging by the cord. Whether or not that’s the actual issue or not is TBD.

But I’ve searched online and looked at all the fuse box diagrams and don’t see anything that says EEC. Lots of other electronic something something, but not engine control. Is it going to be called something else? Is it a special fuse hidden away somewhere for owners not to be able to access? Anybody here with access to Toyota stuff, please let me know.

It's probably just the fuel cap and will clear on its own after she drives it some. In my personal experience, Toyota and Subaru like to make extra lights come on to get peoples attention better.

I have a code reader and a multimeter and am at home today. I could check the fuses out if needed.

AZ checked the codes but didn’t clear them. I have a couple code readers but you’re closer. I just texted her and she said she was home all day.

If you’re willing to run over there and reset it, and maybe check the fuses (Shane mentioned two), we’d both appreciate it. 👍🏼

For those without, a $5 copy of Torque Pro and a $20 bluetooth OBDII adapter really can't be beat.

Great combo. This setup has saved me a bunch of headaches.

On my camping trip last year, the Olds started shifting crazy and had no power to speak of. While still driving, I was able to plug in the adapter and had my copilot look up the code that came back as a probable throttle position sensor.

We found a parts store en route, changed it in the parking lot, and had a nice trip. 👍

Be careful with that. Some cars will turn off while scanning for codes. My 01 F350 7.3 is one of those and without the power steering and power brakes the truck becomes a barely controllable 8500lb missile.
