Just dropping a photo of this Colt Detective Special with Sile grips and a Tyler T-Grip next to this very nice CFF tumbler (20 oz) by DesignMine (free plug). Well done DesignMine. Thanks.

As I mentioned at the other place...this looks like the one I saw at the Fort Mill Cabelas a few weeks ago. If so, I handled it....nice one. Had been thinking about it myself.

It was, I just had to haggle them down to a better price. I had been watching this one for a while, it was keeping me up at nights.....so I rescued it.

Oh good. You saved me a bunch of money. Was really kicking that one around. Love those N frame snubs.

Proper revolver calibers begin with the number 4!

Absolutely. The 642 and 442 do not get the love they deserve...in most cases. They are modern production and sort of utilitarian; however, they are fantastic. Light weight, concealable, very durable. I've got several 442s. This one has thousands of rounds through it. It is 10 years old. The black finish is durable. Everybody needs a 442 or 642. This is the gun that I would keep if everything else had to go.

Deep concealment can be important. A 442 (or 642) IWB with a Barami Hip Grip, Tyler T Grip, or even just a good IWB holster should not print if it sits deep enough. That's the key....it should sit deep so that the belt holds it in place. Walked around all day like this...

I dig it....that's what I like to see. A well used snub. I had wood grips on the above pictured 442 until switching to the Barami a couple months ago.

EDIT: I want to look through this wood pile you have....it's full of guns.

Well used describes it. For probably 10+ years that was my daily carry...light weight and powerful enough. I always did (n do) keep it loaded with Federal +P "FBI loads"

Time to add a new snub nose revolver to the picture thread.
Yesterday, I picked up the new Kimber K6S. Fit and finish is excellent. The trigger pull is super smooth with no stacking. Not sure how Kimber achieved this because the internals look like a S&W J frame. This is a 6 shot .38 / .357 in stainless steel. It weighs only 23 ounces empty. It’s about the same size as a Colt D frame (Detective Special, Cobra, Agent) and fits in D frame holsters reasonably well, not perfectly. The trigger guard is a different shape, more oval.
My only real complaint, if you can call it a complaint, is that the rubber grip is a bit too “square.” Something more rounded would feel better. A gold bead or fiber optic front sight would be appropriate at this price point.
Had to have the Kimber because I collect / carry snub nose revolvers. It’s just sort of my thing. Could not pass it up. That said, I would probably not pay the premium just to have a carry revolver with all the Smith & Wesson J frame, K frame, Colt D frame, and small Ruger options out there but for my ridiculous snubbie habit.

Hmmm, recessed cylinder, that's surprising.

Will probably repost this with more pics once the new site is up (and assuming stuff posted tonight is lost)...but got my first chiefjason holster in the mail yesterday after going up there last week for a custom fit. Excellent work.

Yep. I had that one just over 24 hours before I placed another order.

Just starting to get into the wheel guns. Have two single action's now and picked this up yesterday a really nice Smith & Wesson 629. Will be trying it out really soon.

No need to explain why you wanted it...I understand!

S&W Model 19-4. I bought it new in 1980 (well my Dad did- I was only 17). Started my lifelong fascination/infatuation with S&W Revolvers.

S&W Model 27-2 3 1/2" Goncalo Alves Smooth Target Grips. Growing up my Dad's best friend kept one of these in the glove box on his pick-up truck. Swore I'd own one one day.

Nice....the 27 is not your typical "truck gun."

Well in the early-70's carrying a Model 27 around as a truck gun is about like somebody carrying a nice Kimber, Sig Sauer, CZ etc. as a truck/carry gun today. This 27 sees some occasional range time but there is no danger of it ever seeing a glove box though. That's what the bottom feeders are for...

Nice looking revolver.

Picked up a Smith & Wesson Model 10-9 today. It dates to about 1994. Bought it from a member at "the other place." I think that the 2" K frame Smiths are fantastic carry revolvers and have quite a few Models 10, 12, and a couple 19 2.5" in the carry rotation.

This one is definitely not a show piece. It looks like it's had an eventful life. It has moderate bluing wear and scratches, most pronounced at the barrel end, trigger guard, and backstrap. The hammer and single action sear are ground off (DAO). The hammer is a "bubba" job but a decent one. There has a bit more slop than I like to see but not terrible. It is not out of time. Paint on the front sight. All sideplate screws were loose. I have not shot it yet. Assuming all goes well at the range, this will be a good knock around, get sweaty / dirty, gun. Probably overpaid a bit but the seller was a nice guy and was kind enough to meet at my office. Much appreciated.

It has "MP 222" stamped into the frame on the left side below the cylinder and above the trigger guard. So, this was likely a LEO or private security agency revolver at some point, I can only assume. The seller is former military and said that he bought it somewhere near Fort Bragg. I doubt that the stamp is reference to military police. Any info about the stamp is appreciated.

I'd shoot my eye out. I need a trigger guard.

I understood that all J frames without the press in cylinder stop were +P rated ? With that being said my .356 TSW has the pressed in cylinder stop.

I hear what you're saying 9146gt....but. The gun is not roll marked anywhere with "+P". The owner's manual that came in the box with the gun shows that it not +P rated. A call to S&W years ago also confirmed by the serial number by stating "gun is too old and is not +p rated".

It was made on the J-magnum frame.

Love it! That one is perfect for a knockabout gun. There is a certain freedom to owning a gun that has some wear on it. You can enjoy it without worrying about it.

Absolutely. I use / carry 98% of my revolvers and rarely pay a premium for "new in box" condition. Honest wear does not bother me. In most cases, wear is only cosmetic. Additionally, I don't think that I've ever seen a snub nose revolver in poor mechanical condition / out of time because it has been shot too much. Most are fired very little. I initially thought that this revolver had a bit more slop in the cylinder than most but, after considering it further, it seems to be in the normal range.

Put 50 rounds through it today and it shoots great. Very smooth trigger. I am going to replace the wood grips with the Barami Hip Grip, Tyler T Grip, and rubber set-up for easy IWB carry. The bobbed hammer is a good attribute for IWB carry. It's growing on me.

This is a little rescue that I made 629-1. She was dirty and unloved when I got her. The thumb piece nut had been stripped and glued in place. The hand torsion spring was broken. She had gouges in the end of the barrel and on the cylinder where she had been dropped. Cylinder walls charred from never being cleaned after shooting. Finish was scratched and marred everywhere. So I did all I could to bring her back. The finish turned out better than I expected. It took patience and effort. But I am happy with it. I will get some better photos of her up soon.
