Revolver Picture Thread

Just re-posting this as it was lost after the Photobucket debacle. It's an old project of mine and the gun has since seen a lot of carry time, mostly in the woods.

I started with a $75 purchase on Gunbroker, the barrel had been cut with a band saw and the ejector rod housing was hacked for some unknown reason? I added a $10 short barrel, also from Gunbroker.

It was a beauty. But I had a plan, as you can tell in this awesome photoshop masterpiece.

So I got to work, swapped the barrel and re-assembled the gun in the white. Shiny!

After a couple years of use I made a better front sight as I didn't like the first one. Low light acquisition is much improved.

More light.

Sorry for the crappy resolution, it's all I was able to save from Photobucket. The gun has seen a lot of use. Not bad for about $100, and no, it's not for sale. I might get it re-parkerized as it is starting to thin out in places.

Just picked this little sweetie up. Not the prettiest girl at the dance, but she cleans up ok...

I have met Kevin and he is an outstanding guy. He came and did a church security training seminar for us that I organized for about a dozen churches in the Smithfield-Four Oaks-Benson area a couple of years ago. He really did a fine job and was super easy to work with. I certainly recommend Kevin as far as training. I need to make a trip to his shop.

Yes. Used to be K&L Guns. It is now Carolina Firearms Training & Gun Sales. Owner was very nice. Retired cop. I invited him to the forum.

The shop is visible from Route 1 but is really on a small street that runs next to it. Left side of the road if headed north.

Here’s his card:

So, I had the ugly duckling with me today. Early 1980s Colt Agent. These came from the factory covered in tooling marks and with the low-grade finish. Fantastic lightweight carry guns.

I bought one of those back in 83' when I was 18 yo. Got in San Antonio just before going to basic.

Thanks for sharing. I have some bad news for you. Those things are extremely fragile so be very careful what you shoot in it. I have one I bought in the 1900s. Mid 70s. It has shot somewhere about a Ga Zillion rounds of anything that will fit in the cylinder. Honestly, they are built to unbelievable stoutness.

Well I guess it's a good thing that I have a couple of spares...

Quite a while back I picked up this 28-2 out of Texas on the big auction site for cheap. Good bore, bad exterior, did not take any pictures when it arrived. I scrubbed it with some steel wool and oil. Thought I might paint it, cold blue it, cerakote it, bedliner it-who knows. Had a little endshake, springs felt weak, timing was good. The more I carried it around the more I liked it so off it went to S&W.

What an amazing transformation. I apologize if this is rude but I'm dying to know:

Other than cosmetics, what else was done?
How long did it take?
Cost?

June 4, I received a Fedex shipping label, they received it June 8, they sent me an email June 13 letting me know they had received it!
August 11, I received a Sales Quotation including repair excess cylinder end play, replace springs as needed, refinish complete firearm standard polish blue, check function and range test. Price including shipping was $278.00, ($45/$220/$13). I called and told them to go ahead and paid.

August 21, I received an email from Roz in S&W customer service stating that Selmo, the refinisher, had some concerns and questions. Since it was rusted and pitted, it may not come out perfect, the trigger guard was dented and they would not be able to smooth it completely, the DPS and #'s on the left side-did I want to keep them or not and they would do their best to keep the lettering on the barrel. I told Roz to let Selmo do his best and that I knew it was a rough piece to begin with.

I am pretty sure Selmo has been there 42 years, 21 in the Performance Center.

Fedex dropped it off Sept 14. S&W were kind enough to include a new set of wood grips! I think they are Altamonts. I had already ordered a set of VZ tactical diamond grips which are shown in the picture. Easy experience, I am happy with the outcome. I may consider it again if I can get into another piece at the right price.

Thanks for sharing that @mrgoob. Both the cost and the timing seem more than reasonable to me (particularly considering what it would cost a "mere mortal" to ship it round trip). :)

Money well spent!

70D59EF3-6553-4E84-8721-BD8BE5827B0A.jpeg There haven’t been many posts on the Wheelgun section so I thought I’d put my newest acquisition up. I stopped in a gun store on the way to the in-laws today in Raleigh and found this guy. It’s not collector quality, but I got a fair price from a good guy and I’m happy with my first Ruger wheelgun.

Nice, I still want a 3” SP101 for hiking.

Tell Billy Harbor Freight has belt sanders on special this week. Take them scratches out in no time. ;)
@BatteryOaksBilly , using a different belt, that same sander would also smooth out those rough grips. :D
