Should have gotten a stainless when I had the chance...

Naaah. Bluing with honest wear looks better than stainless...especially on something as nice looking as a Python. Just get a stainless to supplement. Who knows...maybe Colt will start making them again (unlikely).

I love the blue - just want a stainless too ;) ... passed up on some great deals when I thought they were too expensive. Now I look at the prices and realize I passed up on deals!

Geez Louise... you guys stink. I was happy with my semi-autos... really. Then I got a j-frame, and a 6" blued Taurus, and a 3" Talo 686... and just bid on a Model 65. These pics are worse than "pron."
What retirement???

Well, if you buy the right guns it's like money in the bank. These older Colt and S&W revolvers are not losing value. Some are going up. That's why I buy so many. Worst case scenario you can turn them back into cash.

I've got a couple posts....I'll start with this one. It will keep me occupied so I don't strangle the cat.

I opened the safe to pull out a Detective Special for the post soon to follow. Heard a crash a couple minutes later and found this 4" Colt Police Positive 1977 on the ground with busted grips. The GODDAMNED CAT got into the safe and knocked it down. Found her sitting on top of a pile of revolvers. Damn.

I found these Colt D Frame combat grips on eBay. Not sure of the manufacturer, but they feel like solid construction. Anyone know who makes them. The grips are a bit larger than stock, but conceal just as well and, holy crap, they are comfortable. Would love to know the manufacturer. Seriously, these would be even better on a Diamondback.

Cocked & Locked @18DAI ... you guys recognize these?

Picked up a little something to almost complete the NYPD revolver collection....a 640-2. This is the stainless centennial, not to be confused with the 642 Airweight.

The original 640 was on a smaller frame and .38 only. Not long thereafter, S&W released the 640-1 on the J Magnum frame in .38 / .357 with a brushed stainless finish.

In 1997, the NYPD requested that Smith & Wesson do a special run with matte finish in .38 only but on the J magnum frame....that is the 640-2. It's not easy to find. These would have been backup and/or off duty carry guns.

Excellent. Love the Herrett's You turned me on to those grips a few months ago. I like that they are flat. Great set up.

I'm a fan of the Shooting Ace style Herrett's grips...err, stocks. Available for J-frames, small Colts, and Charter Arms. Possibly other small revolvers.

I've got a bid in on Colt D Frame (post-1966) Shooting Ace grips right now...won't know how it turn out for a few days. Can't find them anywhere else online. Going forward, will probably snatch up every set of the gri.....I mean stocks...that I see.

Grip is what you do to the stocks. That concludes todays lesson! :)

I kinda like revolvers. 22LR's are a great place to start.

Is the round butt 34-1 4" an oddball? I feel like square butt is more common in 4".

I had a 34-1 4" nickel with a round butt.

I don't know the numbers but both 2" and 4" came both ways. The 34-1 I posted was shipped 10/81. I have another identical to it shipped 06/71. Both are round butts. I had a sq.butt 2" but I see more rnd butt in the 2".

The original stocks were gone when I adopted the 4" 31-1. It came with the Herrett's in the first pic. One aspect of gun ownership is the ability to change the 'personality' of the gun with different stocks. I tried several before settling on the Eagle Secret Service stocks.

The shape resembles Mustang Grips. The wood ...I dunno.

g-dad comes through huge for the revolver pic thread. Nice .32s. Like the Secret Service stocks on the last one. Good stuff.

The wood is very dense. Thinking that they may be Monte Carlo stocks from Philippines based on another set that I just found / bought on gunbroker. Can't be sure.

One more tonight. Next caliber for me is 9mm. This will be a group shot. No pun intended

Wow. A 940 3"....and the 547. I'm trying to find a 3" 547. Really good stuff.

Okay...clearly, I've got a problem. Went to the Salisbury show today and came home with this DAO 64-4. It's in great shape, except for the sloppy attempt to notch and install a sight insert. That's easily correctable. Came with the Tyler. The problem...well, this the 4th snub Model 64-4 in as many weeks. Three of them DAO, including a NY-1 and Brinks. May end up selling the non-DAO. It's funny...could never find these before.
