Rifles

I have the BMP in 6.5 CM and I love it. Shoots way better than I do.

Well, given the vast amount of information you've provided, I'd say yes, you ought to buy a rifle. =)

- What are you using it for? Bench, Hunting, Games/Comps, SHTF, General Purpose/Do-it-all...
- Carry it all day or from the trunk to the bench?
- What's important to you feature wise?
- Budget?
- Caliber?
- Factory ammo or reloads?
- etc....

General/all purpose mostly hunting some long range shooting. Mostly 500yds or under. Ive mostly been looking at this one and the savage 110 desert tactical.

Those Bergara's have a great rep. If I went with the Savage (I've had a couple), I'd budget for an aftermarket stock/chassis. I had stellar results with a Savage FCP and an MST HS3 chassis - like .5 MOA good.

I'd also look into the Tikka T3 line.

I have a Bergara B14 Hunter in .308 that I love and have several friends that love the HMR. The only issue I have heard of is the adj cheek rest ona friends rifle came loose and was lost on a deer hunt. Likely operator error but Bergara sent him a new one no questions asked.

You also might want to take a look the Howas. I have two (24" HB 308 Multicam and a 26" 6.5 Creedmoor HS Precison) that have been flawless.

I'm going to check out one this weekend. It's going to be a bit before I start putting a package together, but the CTR and HMR were two big ones on my radar.

On paper, the Bergara appears to have a nicer stock and far cheaper mags. CTR is said to have a better action, but I see claims that this isn't always the case.

Really from what I can see, CTR owners love their CTRs and Bergara owners love their Bergaras.

I really liked the stock and the looks of it.

What stock would you reccomend? McMillian?

Mostly the stock is what I'm referring to. The actions on both were good with a slight nod to the CTR.
Yeah I think the Bergara definitely has the edge there. Though truth be told, 95% of shooters couldn’t shoot beyond the accuracy potential of an off the shelf Tikka. Or Bergara. Or Ruger. Or Savage. Hell, manufacturing is so good and consistent these days it’s hard to find a rifle over $300 that isn’t pretty good, even with the factory tupperware.
