RIP Kenny Rogers

Damn, I grew up listening to him. My mother is a super fan of his.

He was my absolute go-to for music until about 1974. He came to Campbell College (now U) sometime in late 1973-early 1975, did a thirty minute set and then never came back out for an encore to a standing ovation that lasted long enough to get his attention. My thoughts at the time were that he was not paid enough for that event to put out more effort than that. I never listened much after that, except to the excellent Bee Gees written "Islands in the Stream" duet with Dolly Parton. It's funny how a single, minor event can change your life forever. The clownish face he sported after several plastic surgeries seemed like revenge to me!

Still, his music in the "First Edition" and immediately following era was fantastic.

RIP Gambler. You gotta know when to hold 'em........................

That stinks. One of the first vinyl LPs I ever had was by Kenny Rogers.
