To all Motus customers, dealers, staff, suppliers, friends,

After an amazing ten year ride, Motus is forced to shut down operations, effective immediately.

This week, Motus' financial backers unexpectedly informed management that they will not provide sufficient capital to maintain operations and grow the business. We were surprised and disappointed, especially because we have been working so hard preparing an October 2018 product launch into a new and exciting segment as well as new features on the MST series. This is very unfortunate timing and we will work to quickly find a new path forward for Motus Motorcycles and our American V4 powertrain division.

We are very grateful to Team Motus, truly the finest group of professionals and people, who have each dedicated so much of their hearts and soul to Motus. We are also thankful to our dealers and the many customers and supporters who have cheered us on and put gas in our tanks along the way.

For Motus owners, hang on to those motorcycles. As you already know, they are heirlooms, unlike any other motorcycles ever built.

Very sincerely,

Lee Conn and Brian Case, founders

They had a cool idea for an engine, a V4, that made good power.
Great looking bikes
But they just couldnt stay with the game

Hope that the engineers and folks there will find work with other companies and keep pushing these new ideas

Too bad for their customers. From reading a lot of the material I could ever find in them, it seems almost everything except a handful of minor engine components were custom... Future repairs will be nearly impossible, as there weren't enough sold to have a thriving aftermarket. At least the oil filter is a standard item.

Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki have had V4's that make good power for years.

Ant the Aprilia makes really good power.

Edit: and Ducati of course.

My biggest turn-off on the Motus (after the 30K price tag, which would not have been unreasonable if it had ABS and Traction Control.) was the advertising with the constant reference to "small block" engine... First things that come to mind when hearing "small block" was Chevy, low tech, kludge, bankruptcy.
If you're gonna go on "Made in America", try to find some modern, tech images to sell it with. Trying to tug at old school, patriotic urges with old tech clunky machinery is Harley's market, and you can't compete there without lowering yourself to their technological era.

I actually had the chance to see one and I really liked it.. I work at a Dodge Dealership and one day a Pro Master showed up needing some service work and it had the Motus Graphic wrap all over it.. I had to open the door and inside was a new Motus sport tour. Im big into sport tourers and just loved the looks of it.. Sorry to hear they are going out of business, but its a small market..
