Fred Ward, who died on May 8 at 79, got his start in acting after moving to Rome and working as a mime and a voice-over actor.

He was also in Escape from Alcatraz. My favorite roles were in Tremors and Naked Gun 33 1/3. lol He was awesome.

He was outstanding as Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff. Really made you feel the anguish of the man. Also liked him in Joe Dirt.
