looking to get one of these for my AR9. Has anyone had both and can tell me if the added money is worth it for the 5x? Also if you think going with another unit in the same price range ($119-$179) would be better shout it out.

I have the Romeo 5 on my AR 9 and it does a great job! I can hit the steel at 200 yards with mine. Depending on wind and elevation.

I also just ordered a new one from Joe Bobs for @ $100.

I’ve been a loyal Aimpoint Micro fan for a long time (five H-1s) but recently started putting Vortex Crossfire (Gen II) on some of my lesser used rifles and an AR pistol.

They're in the $130-$150 price range. The two I have shot so far have worked well in limited range use. The biggest selling point (to me) is Vortex’ LIFETIME WARRANTY.

I try to keep a couple extra optics around. This thing came in the mail fast.

Have 2 of the Romeo5 on 2 of my PCCs and love them. Can't speak for the x version.

Haven’t used any of those, but the only “budget optic” I own is a Primary Arms micro dot and so far I am pretty impressed with it.

I kinda like the 5x simply because it doesn’t take that stupid CR battery but not sure it’s worth the extra money. Might just go with the 5.

What’s wrong with the cr2032? They’re cheap, readily available, weigh next to nothing and the battery life they are putting out in red dots is measured in years. They’re the industry standard in micro red dots.

I guess I shouldn’t be down on them. I think it’s cause I run through them fast with my bike helmet and chest strap and get tired of replacing. Thanks for slapping me back to reality.

Ok. Cause at that price this thread would have been null and void. Lol
I looked and with the LEO/Mil. Discount it was $113 and free shipping.

It won't be a problem in the Romeo5. Ive had my 1st one for over a year, and the original battery is still in it. The auto turn off REALLY works, as I am horrible at remembering to turn them off.

If I was ponying up an extra $100 for a 2MOA circle dot made by Holosun, it wouldn't have a SIG painted on the side. The 507C is in another class and with solar the batteries last years.

FWIW I love my Romeo 5. It's the best sub $120 RDS out there
